10:34 AM Update - Players know nothing

Never agreed with anybody more.

I imagine the negotiations would go like this:

JP: We want all 800,000 of that buyout.

Creighton AD: We can't afford that, looks like we will have to walk from the deal...

JP: Whoa now, calm down. How about 400,000?

CAD: Nope.

JP: 2?

CAD: Nope.

JP: Fine we will ignore the buyout.

CAD: Nope.

JP: Ok, we will pay you 800,000 bucks to take him off our hands.

CAD: Deal!

Here's the question i have......

Why are Buckley and Hamilton still allowed into the practice facility. If they've already indicated they're leaving, then we should not allow them to continue to use the Iowa State Facilities.....

When you have someone who is leaving for whatever reason, its not good to have that mentality around your team....seems odd to me.

Exactly ...and posting snotty facebook replies sympathetic to other players that have left.

hahahahahaha - good stuff. I was reading this and imagined it happening in the amount of time it took me to read it - making it even funnier.

he can't come back now. everyone would be extremely ******, most people want him gone, the others would be mad that he actually considered an offer from a MVC team.

he can't come back now. everyone would be extremely ******,

And the difference betweent that and the past 8 months would be?????

He has 2.5 million, minimum, waiting for him here at ISU. A place where fans have been vocally against him for the entire past season?

What pressure is he under now? No much, IMO. Neither is it on the Creighton AD - "we couldn't come to an agreement". Happens quite a bit. I haven't seen a presser from them yet saying they've offered. Just here, ESPN and the like. Deniable.

Pressure would be on JP.

I just can't believe that people who've been screaming bloody murder the past 8 months - crying to the heavens we need to get rid of GMac at a cost of millions, are now actually adovcating the remote possiblity of keeping him just because we might not MAKE 800K.

Really, unbelievable.

I don't budge on the buyout. Mac can pay it himself from his new deal and I guarantee that he doesn't want to come back now and ruin his career. He'd do it and I'd let him make installments.

I had high hopes and expectations for GM when he came, but this is a giant win-win with a bow on it. Pollard needs to do whatever it takes to help him move on. This might work out as well as Chizik leaving if we can retain our players/recruits.

Because he knows he can't stay here now. I'd call any bluff. It's hardball season.

This is rediculous. Why on earth would JP let them get away with not paying the 800K? Crazy.

I wouldn't budge either. We know Rasmussen wants him badly with that contract offer - they sure wouldn't let another $800,000 get in the way. CU is just playing games becasue they know he's unpopular here.
Don't give away a dime...

Why? Have you seen a press release I haven't?

Nobody from any office has said squat. Everyone can deny everything to this point, and in an hour we could be right back where we were yesterday morning.

Wow - for this point alone I almost don't want it to happen. The hypocricy will be legendary.

I think JP shouldn't readily give it away either. But if that becomes so much as a tacky issue - who cares. Let it go. You're already up 2.5 in my book.

Simply a game of chicken.

What happens if Creighton says that is all right you can keep Greg we will not pay the 800k. Then what does ISU do? Unfortunately Creighton has all the power. They can find another coach pretty easily that they can sell the fan base much better the choice of Greg McDermott.

He cannot come back to Ames from this. If JP gets that gready in all of this and ****s it up, then ISU BB will hit all time lows in coming years. Him leaving is doing ISU a hugeeee favor.

Chris in your last release, you stated Justin Hamilton was at the practice facility.
This day just keeps getting odder by the minute.
If Mac leaves, is Hamilton back? Has he been in Ames since he announced LSU?
