10:34 AM Update - Players know nothing

I vote we form a group of people who go to Greg's house and starts moving his stuff out for him. Hopefully we can get this moving process expedited a bit, and if he is on the fence on whether to stay or go a little free help might persuade him.

I would definitely take a half day at work for this...

I think this is a win win of sorts. We drop Mac without having to buy him out, he saves face by leaving. The only down side is that we're a little behind in the coaching carousel.

I hope, for the pure sake of watching this message board's reaction, that JP is in the midst of drafting a 11 year, 10 million dollar counter-offer

The meltdown would be epic. Hopefully JP is giving GMAC his blessing to leave and helping him clear out his office as we speak. Hell... JP probably has a moving van stationed outside of GMAC's house just waiting for the word to start packing him up. :biglaugh:

JP's hands were tied. I think everyone knows if money wasn't an issue he would have pulled the trigger and fired GMAC. Creighton just untied JP so a huge weight has been lifted off of his shoulders.

Provided that the rumors are accurate and the numbers are remotely true (10yrs, 9 mil)... I can't for the life of me figure what is taking so long?

This seems like a no-brainer for Mac.

Only two downsides I can see all revolve around the fact that it's not UNI. He has to regularly go against his alma-mater, his own kid and good friend.

But career wise - it seems this is as simple a decision as one could have. Gift wrapped even.

Simple guess, they're negotiating with JP to do something about the 800K. :wideeyed:

If Pollard doesn't get the 800K then he should be the one getting fired. That was written into the contract and if Creighton doesn't want to pay it then tell them to go find a new coach. Once an offer has been extended no AD wants to be told no or have to rescend that offer. I would think that it'd be worth that money to keep the PR nightmare from hitting his front door.

IF JP won't budge on the 800k and that forces GMAC to stay at ISU then JP should be fired. GMAC should have to pay back at least half of the salary he earned at ISU with his craptastic results. As Deace said... the guy was stealing money from ISU as the coach here.

The most important thing is that GMAC is no longer the coach at ISU. This is the priority we should be focused on.

I want the whole 800k. Keep in mind, we may have to pay the buyout of another coach here in a day or two.

Yep.

If Greg ends up at ISU for another 2 years because we didn't let go of an 800K buyout, JP's own career is in serious jeapordy.

He has some leverage to keep it. But why? I'm fine with a clean break and let's get on with life.

Seems our options might be -2.5 million, 0, or +800K. I'm fine with either of the last two.

Hey wait a minute... weren't you the guy who said Greggy wasn't going anywhere?:skeptical:

Oh well.... worked out for the better...
DRINKS ON ME!

That was me and I admitted my mistake somewhere on this site. I still can't believe somebody hired him. I really can't. How do you sell that?

He also has leverage not to keep it, if Mac and Creighton know how difficult it can be for us to come up with the money for his lump-sum buyout.

I think both could settle halfway and I'd be happy. But if we can get it all, we can make a nice buyout or signing bonus for our new coach.

We spent time on that at work tonight. Only way we thought of was his UNI record. But Jake is more successful there than Greg was, and was there under Greg, leaving open the strong possibility that he really built the program.

Tough sell for the Jays, but I don't want to discourage them from making the effort.
