1 free throw = 2 or 3 points?

Or completely eliminate FTs and just give the shooting team 1pt for a 2pt shot or 2pts for a 3pt shot on a miss. If the shot goes in, give them the full value of the shot.

So this is something of an alternative to the Elam Ending? Only this seems designed mostly to shorten game times where the EE is designed to eliminate the incentive to foul at the end of the game (which has a secondary effect of shortening games).

I'm all for both of those goals, but the EE just feels like an arbitrary way to end a game, like a changing of the rules mid-stream. This at least better fits into the flow of a game.

Missed that. Still seems stupid.

If it's meant to speed up the game, how about instead just don't let the guys leave their spots on the lane between shots. Once you set on the lane, you stay there. The constant jockeying for placement is what takes the most time.

In addition, maybe eliminate ability to make substitutions between FTs. Those details along with what @awd4cy mentioned: ... "the act of actually getting to the line takes up most of the time." ... that's especially true when fouls happen in backcourt and everyone has to go to the other end of the court.

This. Just like baseball adding a timer that the pitcher has between pitches. How often after a foul in the NBA do you end of waiting for 30 seconds so everybody can mosey to the line, at least one player and probably a coach can ***** at the ref about the call for 10 seconds, then the shooter gets the ball and does a 10 second routine before he actually shoots it.
