    My two cents worth: 3-0 they are likely in, particularly if they win their first Big 10 tournament game 2-1 last four out range heading into the Big 10 tournament, so could play their way in depending on how the bubble moves 1-2 or worse, they’d have to win the Big 10 tournament

    Roehl seems like a really strong position coach hire and I like that he has some play calling experience to add to the group of offensive coaches. The offensive staff is definitely young, but also feels full of guys that are talented, hungry, and well liked by their players.

    One interesting thing is that even though we are 3rd in AdjD and Houston is 1st and we are 42nd in AdjO and Houston is 16th, we are closer to them in AdjO (3.6 difference) than we are in AdjD (4.8 difference).

    So of the 5 times it’s happened in the Kenpom era twice it’s been teams similar to Iowa St this year (an adjEM within 1), once its was a giant upset, and twice it was teams that weren’t too far off in adjEM from the team they beat.

    60% of remaining base pay is his buyout I believe. His yearly base pay would be quite a bit lower than the $3.3 million total compensation number which includes media obligations, brand endorsement, etc.

    Unless they lose out or something close he’ll be back for next year I’d think. But another missed tournament next year and he likely would be done (and probably even if it’s a bubble season with low attendance again).

    Probably the only way we win the Big 12 outright if we lose at Houston is we run the table in the rest of our games. Then it would take Houston losing 2 out of @ Oklahoma, @ Baylor, and Kansas.

    If I was a fan of Houston, UConn, or Purdue this year I would take the Sweet 16 option. For everyone else, including us, the Final 4 option seems pretty clear cut. For any 2, 3, or 4 seed type team the odds of making the Championship game is a single digit percentage.

    To be fair the program wasn't in the best place after LaVall Jordan and they are quite a bit better this year in year 2 under Matta. He's on track to have them back in the tournament next year.
