    The difference between winning and losing usually isn't much and last night was no exception. Take away the lucky leaner that McKowen made as the shot clock was running down and the HORRIBLE turnover that MT made that led to Coleman's dunk. Add just ONE basket for Jiri...any one of his bunnies...

    I disagree with your thought that you don't want him setting screens. Chances are that teams will not honor him much beyond 15' which means that when he sets a ball screen, his defender won't be in position to hedge out on the guard...this will hopefully allow the guard to penetrate the paint...

    You are right. I just wish that Jiri had remembered this and deferred to his teammates who had the 6 games under their belt. He forced his game, flat out simple.

    The commentators said it all

    We had a couple of bad rotations, especially in the first half. I think one time we had Taylor, Wesley, and Clark all on the bench at the same time. I am a fan of CJ, but I was not calling for him tonight. He is NOT a good defender and would have really struggled.

    I am NOT suggesting that we drop Jiri from the program. We just need some things from him that he didn't give us tonight. As I look back at the game, I think Gray and Wesley played nice games but the rest of the team was a little iffy.

    UNI Game Thread

    I thought our guards would be able to handle theirs...BMc played very well. MT's late turnover to Coleman kind of summarized his night for the Clones. He just couldn't get in the flow and really forced his game.

    Jiri

    I was a little disappointed in his "ball-toughness" and his finishes tonight. I expected a little bit more from him. We really needed a couple of those finishes during that late run. This is not a terrible loss.

    BIG GAME tomorrow

    Is the old players' revenge to beat the old coach STRONGER than the knowledge that the old coach has about those same guys? If we can just not get killed in the paint, I think we will win. Jiri ought to be a big help. I am anxious to watch him play again. Clones by 3 in a come-back victory.

    You are 100% correct. I drank a few beers with some Hawk fans over the weekend and they have NO expectations for the basketball team. I enjoyed reading the rantings and ravings on one of the Hawkeye websites after the ASU game. They never cease to amaze me...it was the officials...
