Unrelated, per USA Today, Padres may wait until the trade deadline to trade Soto and instead look to trade Boegarts and Tatis to start the year.

Drew Smyly is in a weird situation. 2024: $10.5 Million if he opts in 2025: $10 Million, but Cubs can opt out for $2.5 Million Opting in, he is guaranteeing himself $13 Million the next 2 years at minimum. However He is likely looking at coming out of the bullpen only in non-clutch...

Some entertaining financially plausible universes: **** Pitchers Trade for Soto ($33 Million) Trade for Alonso ($22 Million) with PCA and have Mets cover Trade for Jose Ramirez ($25 Million) Sign Bellinger ($25 Million) Tokyo Cubs Sign Ohtani ($45 Million) Sign Yoshi ($30 Million) Sign Imanaga...

Cubs are currently at $168 million going towards luxury tax. CBT is set at $237 next year. Financial penalties really aren't that meaningful/noticeable for big markets until you're $40 million over ($277 Million) Historically, the Cubs try to have about $10 million before hitting any tiers so...

NOTEBOOK: On Jaylin Noel’s near TD on a kick return that was called back and more from ISU’s 28-21 loss to Kansas

This, not to mention it’s much easier to score at least 3 points starting at the 1 as opposed to the 31. No to make excuses for not scoring, but it’s worth noting that they’re different

NOTEBOOK: On Jaylin Noel’s near TD on a kick return that was called back and more from ISU’s 28-21 loss to Kansas

This is not a judgement call, this is the official seeing something that did not happen. There’s a difference, and this official needs to face repercussions from the Big 12 offices for this.

    Pizza anyone??

I noticed with the Casey’s app, when I’ve added coupons in the past, it doubles my order instead of just cutting my order in half. I’ve had to go through and manually delete the food I didn’t want.

Bellinger officially declines his option; will get $5 million from the Cubs this year. Cubs "save" $7 million. Cubs decline Boxberger's option; will pay him $800k to not play instead of $5 million to play. Still waiting on Stroman and Hendricks mutual options and Gomes club option.

The one Padres player who I haven’t seen talked about by media is Tatis. He costs $25 million against the cap a year until 2035, and he and the FO don’t have a great history. If he would be willing to move to third, I’d be ok with throwing a top prospect or two for a sure thing.

Soto is a Boras client and looking at costing over $30 million next year. Boras rarely, if ever, signs extensions. My guess is most teams won’t be throwing their top prospects if they aren’t going to be guaranteed a sure thing. Because of that, I believe Morel + Killian + 1 more would...

Trading and free agency evidently start today. There had been speculation the Padres may wait until July to trade Soto, but turns out not only were they given a $50 million loan to cover expenses, but they requested $100 million, which tells me there’s zero shot they can afford paying him...

Mets, Padres, and Rangers have spent money the last 2 years like it was nothing. At historic levels. 2 of the 3 saw it blow up in their face in horrific fashion, while the Rangers are crowned the best team in baseball, 2023.

I like it, my only concern is not having guaranteed dude at 3B and 1B/CF. I could see a world where Happ moves to CF when Soto is in LF, but we'd still have a hole at 3B. I could sleep at night with Madrigal/Mastro, but the Cubs best lineup lets both of those guys serve as utility guys. I'm...

We have a **** ton of OFs in our farm that it’ll be manageable to lose Canario, Davis, Alcantara, or Caissie for a guy like Soto. It’ll also be manageable to lose a guy like Mervis if you get Bellinger or Alonso. They’re only 3 years apart in age so it’s not like we’re giving up youth. The...
