    Matt Kegel

It was a puzzling decommit because Kegel had been an enthusiastic Gopher recruit. Most in Minnesota think it was a mutual parting of ways because of a shift in offensive line philosophy after the firing of offensive line coach/coordinator Limegrover. Whichever the case, Kegel should be a solid...

    Coach Jerry Kill retires immediately

There's no question that right now ISU has better facilities than Minnesota. Their facilities are abysmal. But the University is breaking ground this Friday on the $150 million Athletes Village, which will equal anything in the Big Ten. Kill was instrumental in the fundraising, and it's...

    Coach Jerry Kill retires immediately

Jerry Kill retiring due to recurring health issues This isn't Cyclone-related, but as a Gopher and Cyclone fan I wanted to post it anyway. If it doesn't fit, feel free to remove it. Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill has seen a return of his serious health issues, and is stepping away. This is a...

    Iowa Game a Must win?

Why is that a joke? A number of commentators consider Minnesota the team to beat in the B1G West.

MAILBAG: Big12/ISU football --- ASK QUESTIONS HERE

If Rhoads calls for his typical punt on fourth-and-one from the UNI 40-yard line in the first quarter, will the whole stadium boo or just part of it?

    Cyclone Football Preseason Predictions!

I don't understand the Hawkeye fans' revisionist history concerning Iowa's running game. The narrative has become that Weisman was no better than an offensive lineman masquerading as a running back, he was a dismal failure, and the future is much brighter without him. In actuality, he was the...

    Reasons to be Optimistic

*Sigh* *Double sigh* You're more tiresome than my two teenagers. Pay attention, Mr. Tinfoil Hat Guy. I'm a Gopher fan first and a Cyclone fan second. That means from the time my dad started tossing nerf footballs with me in our Hastings backyard I knew that the only appropriate course of...

    Reasons to be Optimistic

With that off my chest... I'm cautiously optimistic this year. I have a bet with my neighbor that ISU will start the season 4-1 or better (I'm avoiding thinking about the final seven games, however). One of the things I wish the coaching staff would do is go for it more often than not on...

    Reasons to be Optimistic

I know I don't post on here very much. I enjoy reading the comments, though, because most of the contributors are reasonable and have interesting slants. But this D Up Clones guy...I just don't get it. I have a sneaking suspicion it might all just be a schtick designed to get a reaction. He...

This is why the Big 12 is not going to expand

What do you care? This is a thread about Big 12 expansion, not another tiresome exercise in trying to "out" somebody as a fake fan. What a strange, unsettling obsession you have. But it gets you attention, which I suppose is the point. I miss the days of small conferences. But the reality of...

hawk fb program headed to the bottom

Well, for someone who just started reading the site a few days ago, this has been an eye opener. Entertaining, for sure. But also in a "pound my forehead against the wall" kind of way. I don't know this D Up individual on a personal level - and he may be a prince of a person, pillar of the...

I'm not sure you understand the distinction between defending something and being a level-headed thinker about something.

D Up Clones uses LOL with alarming frequency. Is there a chance he's actually a 12-year-old girl?

hawk fb program headed to the bottom

Thank you! I've been to several different college football venues, mostly in the Big 10, and I can absolutely say that the tailgating / fan experience is the best at Jack Trice. We have so much fun, although last year it took an extra serving or two of Fireball to make it through.

hawk fb program headed to the bottom

This thread is disappointing - I thought Cyclone fans were more level-headed than this (I'm not speaking to all, clearly, but to some). I'm a native Minnesotan, and as a Gopher fan that means I root against Wisconsin and Iowa more than any other teams and wish no success upon them. But...
