With Texas and Oklahoma scheduled to leave the B12, what are your predictions for the future for them in the SEC?

I think Texas will be okay, should be in the upper half to third. Their affiliation with the SEC may actually help them, but acquisition of talent has never been an issue, it's the execution.

Before Lincoln Riley left for USC, I thought Oklahoma would probably be just fine. But with that loss, I honestly think they turn into the Nebraska of the SEC. Once powerful, but now mediocre at best.

When I look at it, what would attract athletes to Oklahoma? Winning history? Nice facilities? Dime a dozen in the SEC. It will be interesting to see how they do now without Riley. If they fall back this year, i'd look for them to slip even farther once they hit the SEC. There are some cupcakes in the SEC for sure, but the top is usually crowded. The more I look at it I think they played themselves and I could see them in the middle to bottom of the league in 5 to 10 years.

What are your thoughts and predictions? Do they remain a powerhouse?

They'll reach elite level after a brief adjustment period. A&M is a good example.

I really think they could be elite. They always were the cheatingest program in the Big 8 on...

They align well with the historically smarmy SEC programs.

I think OU will do well. UT on the other hand could be in trouble. The fact that they have been struggling to get their crap together for a decade now in the B12 doesn't give them a good starting point. If they take another step back due to the move, they will have a huge hill to climb and a fanbase that doesn't have the patience for it. See nebby to the B1G.

OU is going to be one of the top teams in the league year after year after year. They get elite QB’s all of the time. It’s Ou. Theyve never fallen off. They never will. They aren’t Nebraska.
John Blake (RIP) would like to have a word with you...

I don't think Nebraska is a good comparison. Nebraska went 29-12 playing 4 regular season non conference games and 17-7 in an unbalanced conference schedule in their last 3 years in the Big 12. OU went 32-6 playing 3 regular season non-con games and 21-5 in a round robin conference schedule in the last 3 years. One of OU's non-con losses was in the playoff while Nebraska never sniffed the top 10 in a final poll.

No Lincoln Riley is an issue. But Nebraska wasn't by any stretch of the imagination the power of the '70s through '90s when they left the conference.

Initial thinking is that they'll be a bit like an Auburn, steadily on that 2nd tier with the occasional season where they rise up and get a title. But who knows, Venables' is likely going to turn OU into a defensive force, but not sure what to expect from the offense, or his ability to recruit elite QBs and WRs with LR no longer running the show.

TOTALLY depend on Venables. And/or the coach who follows him.

IDK if he is going to be Dabo level good, or if he is going to be Jon Blake Jr. That will be the difference between Elite, Successful, and Mediocre. They won't be terrible.

Elite is Alabama or Georgia. I'd say A&M is successful, which is where I think Oklahoma ends up.
Overall agree. They’ll be in the tier where they will pop into elite on a more often than not basis, but won’t maintain it until there is a coaching shakeup at Alabama.

OU will be fine. No reason that they can't be Georgia.

Top 10 finishes 2012-2021
OU 8 GA 7
Top ten finishes 2002-2011
OU 6 GA 5

What are they considered in the big 12? I'd say 2nd category? I'd say in SEC maybe somewhere between 2 and 3.
