Anyone know much about this kid? He has balled out at every camp he has been at and has been invited to The Opening finals. He has good size and quickness at 6'2 and is over 180 Pounds. Seems like Iowa is keeping tabs on him but I have heard nothing of Iowa State even slightly looking at him. Is it a case of the staff seeing something they don't like, or is he a lifelong Hawk fan? Seems like he is a kid we want to be on sooner rather than later.

This kid? Helps to provide some context.

I can offer a couple of surmises.

A. Iowa is desperate for wide receivers. ISU is not. Despite that, Iowa still hasn’t offered. That’s a hint right there.

B. The Iowa sites—especially the Rivals one—likes to post articles about potential walkons, moreso than the ISU sites do. Apparently it drives up their hit count or something.

Not sure what you mean by “balled out”. I read an article on a camp in St. Louis that I’d assume a Solon kid would be at if he wanted to be recruited more, and he wasn’t mentioned. There was one kid from Michigan mentioned who got an invite to ISU’s camp yesterday—and accepted.

He had the highest SPARQ rating at the St. Louis Regional for The Opening. That's a very big deal tbh.

Correct. It has been known for quite a while that he went to a national camp last summer and scored the highest of anyone there too. He's done this at several camps.

Not sure why there hasn't been more interest to this point though? Do these camp grades not translate to the football field?

He was at Prairie High School in CR up until this year when he transferred to Solon which is a step down in class level, but Solon is very good and passes the ball a LOT more than Prairie does. Prairie runs the single wing T or whatever it's called and runs the ball 90% of the time, so I can see why he left there. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. The fact is though, he tests off the charts at these camps.

I'm not super familiar with that rating but isn't the idea something like anything over 130 is considered elite athleticism? It's interesting that that alone wouldn't get him on the in state schools radar. Its not like you HAVE To play him at WR. Who knows, maybe that's part of the deal, he may only want to play that spot, we may like him somewhere else. Either way, he's intriguing.

Kid might be an elite athlete but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be an elite football player or even a good one at that. There's a reason why he only has FCS offers.

He's really good at the sparq drills or whatever. This should translate to being an Iowa high school track star yet somehow he's not fast on the track. Didn't qualify for a single sprint event in Class 3A. He's just not much of a football player.

We had a guy some years ago that was a STUD. But he was a "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" player...

I'm going out on a limb and say CMC knows way more about the kid than we do. MAYBE.
