What do we do with an open scholly?

I don't know why Boozer or Ham would transfer now, are they gonna be the stars of this team next year? No, but they will get playing time. Mann and Eik were both guys who just can't even be on the floor in a big 12 game. I really think McD is trying to show his investment to CB on how he is upgrading the caliber of help around him, both in incoming class (I think everyone agrees we are better with what were getting than seniors lost, sorry AT, Petey, and Haluska we all loved how you repped I-State.) and he is meeting mutually with the guys who he knows basically aren't going to see any PT with the direction of the program. I like the ideas we will just see if it works out, maybe we gain talent, Brackins stays and who knows how high we can go, or we could be in this same spot talking the same stuff next year after no postseason and hovering at or below .500. Time will tell.

just to throw in my two cents here.... i sat on my computer and watched jordan play the semi state finals and not to be down on colvin or anything, but he was clearly the best player on the court that game.... athletic, strong, and great form on his shot and he's left handed... by the way the coaches had him playing point instead of colvin..... to me he's better than a mid major prospect and i think we'd be lucky to get him

i can't find the link to where i was watching that game, but if somebody knows where it is could they please post it here if it's still available so people just dont think i'm crazy

There are better players out there than Marcus Jordan, but I would take him in a heartbeat. He has played with Colvin, which can't hurt chemistry, and could improve. He has the body of D-1 player. We just shouldn't expect all-world results.

I put in 26 in an intramural game this year. Does that make me a basketball player? It isn't about 1 game, and that seemed to be the game of his season.

Are we still interested in Torye Pelham. Wouldn't mind getting another 6'6" athlete on board. You can never have enough 3/4s on a team. Look how it cost us this year.

I'd say banking a scholly with the turnover we have is bad idea. That's like driving on 4 bald tires, and choosing to go without a spare.

If a supposedly mid-major recruit joins a mid-major caliber team (ISU), is that such a bad thing? IMO there's no such thing as a wasted scholarship, because unfortunately we have a revolving door and the scholarship openings are endless.

I disagree. It's a great idea and it is what we should have done last year.

We can't accept an offer from Barnes/Ejim/etc if there is no scholly waiting for them. Coaches have already shown that they don't accept a committment w/o an open scholly(in regards to Dendy).

ISU needs to bank the scholly unless they are 100% sure that Craig is not going to be back

Isn't it nap time for you?

What I said was true and still is. I have only looked more correct lately. The coaches didn't bring Dendy in until after Mann had announced that he would transfer.

It would have looked bad if they would have given a scholly that wasn't there to give.

Same goes for Kelm. Why hasn't he committed cyismydog?!?!? Huh? Is it b/c Kansas is in on him?:biglaugh:[/quote/]

When we get Ejim, Barnes, and Dendy we will have no use for Kelm.:biglaugh:

Am I the only one that think Marcus Jordan could be beneficial in ways not directly related to his production on the floor. Maybe I'm naive, but I would think that being the son of the best basketball player ever to play the game and still one of the most recognized figures on the entire planet might be helpful in some aspects (exposure, donations, recruiting, etc).

Since Michael's other son plays for Illinois, has that helped their doantions? Is MJ giving money to Illinois?

As a fan maybe it would give you a warm fuzzy to see MJ in the stands, but I have a tough time believing a kid is going to come to ISU because MJ's son plays for ISU. We need the best players and daddy shouldn't be considered. How much has having Carlos Boozer's little brother on the Clones helped with donations and record?
