There are quite a few free agents playing really well in the WBC. Any thoughts on where they end up? I think Pedro has looked better than he has in years, with his fastball up at 93 and Pudge is knocking the cover off the ball. I would love to see Pudge with the Twins to help out while Mauer is out then DH and give Mauer some time off against lefties. Pedro could be a solid back of the rotation for a bunch of teams. I think it would be nice to see him back with the Dodgers to end his career... Thoughts? What about Sidney Ponson? He hasn't looked too bad...

Pedro is looking good but what are the chances he stays healthy? Pudge to the Twins would be huge for them. I wouldn't touch Ponson

I wouldn't mind either one of those two pitchers getting a shot as the #5 for LA but if Schmidt continues to improve it may not be needed. It is hard to imagine him making it through a season without getting hurt again.

I have met Sidney a few times and for all his problems I think he is a really good guy that has just been a bit slower than most to grow up.

There was talk of the Cards pursuing Pedro as a closer but the Cards front office won't open their wallets for anyone anymore.

I can definitely see Pedro going back to the Dodgers, and Pudge signing with someone who needs backstop insurance. I can't, however, see Bernie Williams ever coming close to a major league dugout as a player again.

I've seen several blogs that claim that the Twins are not impressed with the game that Pudge calls behind the plate. With a runner on, he wants a steady diet of F/B's to make himself look good. Most of the Twins staff lives and dies with the changeup so it probably wouldn't be a good fit.

Pudge - he'd be a good platoon somewhere. Twins would be nice.

Pedro - I'd pay him $2-$3 mil as a middle reliever. I think he's more effective in 2-3 inning spurts now, and he may not get injured.

I agree with ya on Pedro... as a Mets fan I have come to expect him to get injured as a starter, regardless of how good he looks at the start of the season. Could be a great long reliever, if he is willing to do that. I think he could make a few teams in the back of the rotation as well, but I just don't think he could make 30 starts anymore. Would love it if he did, always loved him.

Pudge'll make a good backup catcher somewhere, he still looked pretty good last year, at least every time I saw him when the Tigers were in town in KC he looked good.

Regarding Pedro, he really doesn't have much of a choice. Either he plays whereever someone tells him to, or he doesn't play at all. He's practically done and doesn't have a lot of leverage at this point.

The is a reason Boston would not re sign Pedro back in the day. He cost to much and started to get the injury bug. I would sign him for a couple million a year though. He can still bring it part time.
Pudge is to bullish anymore. He has his style and can't really change to much. He would be a good guy to get mid season if you needed a catcher to step up.
