Sounds like they are making a movie based on the book Moneyball with Brad Pitt starring as Billy Beane. Really looking forward to seeing this as it is an excellent book!

What's it about?

The strategy of winning in MLB without spending a ton of money. The whole walks/power hitter, drafting college guys, trading at the right time, etc. I am guessing the movie will center around the Giambi era A's and the 2001 and 2002 drafts.

The book is basically about finding things that are valuable to a baseball team, but other baseball executives undervalue. At the time, it was all about on base percentage. I loved the examples of how most teams think leadoff hitters need to be base stealers, and then the A's led off Jeremy Giambi.

Very good book.

I was just reading about that book today in "The Yankee Years"...probably going to have to either buy it or go to the library...

I've heard about this for a while, should be interesting. I guess I don't really know how you make a movie about this though. I did love the book.

The funniest thing to me is how many people read the book and have NO IDEA what it's really about.

The funniest thing about baseball in general is how many Players, Coaches, Fans, Commentators, GMs, still use stats that don't mean crap and do not know what really leads to success in baseball and how many try to prove this type of analysis is wrong, although they have no basis for it lol.
