Cowboys release S Roy Williams

Probably another good move by the Cowboys actually. The guy can't cover my grandmother, and he's not big enough to play closer to the line for an entire year I don't think.

Williams was too busy trying to put on the big hit to actually make a tackle. I won't miss him.

Everyone and their mother knew that Roy was gone -- before Roy asked for a release.

Maybe they could have done a 2-fer-1 and ditched Roy Williams the receiver.

Not likely since they invested a first round pick in him and Patrick Crayton is hardly a number 2 receiver, let alone a 1.

Shh, people are having too much fun irrationally hating the Cowboys.

There is nothing irrational about it. Its just the same as having all that black and gold crap shoved down our throats all those years. People are sick of JJ and "America's Team".

Says the Red Sox fan. Okay. Do you hate Tiger Woods? Michael Jordan?

Heh, right now I'm kinda sick of 'em too. Jerry did make this mess for himself.

At least he's finally listening to other people. But I'm not holding my breath it will become the norm.

Anywho, on RW, I wish it would have worked out. Loved him his first few years in the league - he won games for Dallas with some of those big plays he made.

And then the wheels fell off...

He's probably a good nickel safety/LB - but was getting far too big of a salary from Dallas to keep him just for that. Curious he was not traded, but perhaps they tried and could not find suitors.

Finally we can stop having Roy Williams represent the NFC in the pro bowl. Granted he did not make it last year due to injury (2008) but the 2 years before that he did not deserve the honor. He is an undersized linebacker that is convinved he is a free safety, and as mentioned above he can't cover anyone in space.

Not necessarily irrational. Any team that self proclaims itself as "America's Team" is bound to be hated by the diehard fans of just about every other team in the league. I disliked the Cowboys in the 70s because they routinely beat my Vikings in the playoffs - but I respected them because they were talented. The day they proclaimed themselves as "America's Team", I lost all respect and have cheered for whomever they have played since.

I feel the same way about the other "America's Team", the Atlanta Braves.
