For those of you around how did we end up with Morgan? Was it simply to keep stinson and blaylock

If I remember correctly, which isn’t saying much, it was an ugly situation. The LE firing was handled poorly, to say the least. I’ve never been a BVD fan by any means and I think the job, at that time, wasn’t attractive. Morgan applied and seemed a safe higher that would clean up the image of the program. That’s my perception.
They threatened to look elsewhere if it wasn’t Morgan and honestly nobody wanted to coach due to the handling and mess that was created with the firing. Haluska got involved. I think he said he would leave if LE was retained and then left anyhow.
Lutz isn't retired. He has an AD job at Ole Miss from the looks of it...

I thought the same thing on McD but looking back I guess it was a lot of wins against nobodies in the non con followed by ~4 conf wins. He had a great staff and has had success at his other stops but I think he came to Ames purely for the money and it showed. He was never a fit and coached some of the most unwatchable bball I've seen. The best thing to come out of his tenure was getting TJ here in the first place.

I don’t have any disdain for Wayne Morgan the person, but he should never have had the job. My dislike is for Geoffrey and BvD for their putrid handling of the Eustacy situation and for sticking us with someone not equipped to be a high-major coach.
BvD deserves to be derided relentlessly on this board.
My recollection is that Morgan was at least the 6th choice, based on newspaper reports at the time (lol). No coach wanted any part of the mess in the basketball program or the AD.
Lutz was hired in an administrative role by Kermit Davis. Was not retained by Chris Beard. Lutz is not coaching currently. So I guess I could put unemployed but I don’t think he’s looking.

Did Wayne ever coach again? Anyone know what he did post-ISU?
It's been all over the place. He had his satellite installation company, moved back to New York around 2009 ish, had 3 years as an assistant at Hofstra, sold life insurance for a while, a couple years as a life skill mentor (I think at Syracuse if remember) and now doing financial advising and insurance sales. I think that's everything.
I don't mean to disparage anybody, but he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer (have some sad stories to back that up) so most things have been 2-3 years and on to the next industry.
There was also one of the LE former assistants who got arrested too.
The reputation of the program was in shambles.
I don't think the candidates rumored to replace LE were great either. That just showed how unattractive the job was
