***Official 2024 Transfer Thread***

Best answer i can give is who won't.
Lipsey, no way.
Gilbert, Jones. Final year 2nd transfer. Why would they.
Momcilovic, not happening
Rock, No
Paveletzke Possible but still second transfer.
Watson, Possible but would be unfortunate he's got a role here.
Biliew??? Shouldn't sounds like he knows the path to development is here for him.
Hamilton and Fish, no idea.

Summation, we have grads leaving. Two guard recruits and will be looking at adding possibly two bigs.
I could see Curtis. He's a legit player that's on the bench now. Unless they show him there is an option for him to start next year I could see some team giving him that promise.

Momcilovic - Money talks and he could get a large payday. See Hunter.. I would hope that doesn't happen but it def could. Could see the NBA come calling too if he has a strong tourney performance.

Pav at least has two years left so he could see his potential for a starting position his senior year. I would think he's want to stay unless he wants to go down a level to start again.

Now with unlimited transfers there is just no guarantee players stay. There has to be a lot of hard conversations the coaches have to have. The only player I would be very surprised would be Lipsey.. and Gilbert to a lesser extent.

You’d have to think that we’re a great destination for a big man transfer. We’re probably top 10-15 to start the season and there are plenty of minutes to be had. Tons of nationally televised games and scouts in attendance.
Not to mention a trip to Hawaii over Thanksgiving!

We probably need a portal big who can defend and rebound. But next season a lot depends on the staff view of Watson and Biliew's roles.

First, from a development standpoint, does the staff project them as 20+ mpg players?

Second, position fit. Can Biliew play big minutes at the 5 on an elite Big12 team? aka Can a frontcourt of Biliew & Momcilovic hold their own physically? And with Watson can he develop his offense & rebounding to be a Nader/Hogue player at the 3/4 spots.

If there are staff doubts on those two, they will need to go big for a couple portal post guys.

Someone will leave. Has happened every year since like 2008
The one that I could see would be Watson and then potentially one of the guys who red shirted.

obviously hard to say, exactly because weird things happen.

But, right, theres a very high chance someone departs

If we want to bring in 2 transfers for the post, don't we need at least one transfer out with the 2 high school guards already signed?

Don't worry about scholarships in today's world. Someone will leave and most likely multiple.

The average amount of transfers out in college basketball last year was 3-4 players per team I believe.

The goal with our outgoing transfers is just to not be our best guys. We can afford to lose some players and use the portal to get just as good players or players that can fill a role better. Hopefully we keep everyone but someone is leaving. To think that we are the only team that won't lose a player is kind of crazy

As for guys leaving - Pav seems like the obvious candidate but he'd have to sit a year; I suppose he could probably redshirt it and still play 2.

Hamilton is a legacy guy, but potential that he thinks (or gets told) that the 2 incoming guards will be ahead of him. I'd guess better chance he's here next year and then not here in '25/26 if Pierce/Nojus get PT over him.

I could see scenarios where both Omaha and Milan leave for professional opportunities. Omaha planned to be a 1 and done and even though he's not getting drafted this year, he may have no intention to stay in school and could easily head to G League or overseas. Milan could potentially be playing himself into a 2nd round draft pick, and as we saw with Horton-Tucker and Wigginton, some guys are willing to jump at that chance.

Watson is staring at a big role and starter minutes next year. No reason for him to leave unless he just goes full highest bidder

if there was a sportsbook who had this prop bet, i'd put my 401k down on them not leaving

He's getting 30 minutes a game and TJ has been subbing him and Ward in a minute or two into the game most nights. I'd be shocked if he left.

Unfortunately I have to say in this day and age I wouldn't be surprised if we have attrition to the portal as well. So now, you're talking replacing up to maybe 5 roster spots. I have my thoughts on who would seek other opportunities, but I'll keep them to myself as it's not cool to put those vibes out there when you don't know what each players/coaching staff's mindset is at the end of the year.
