General Sickness

Late yesterday afternoon outside the west Ames McD, I saw the Hamburglar and the purple thing and a few other people on the sidewalk. Wondered what they were doing, because I don't know of many people who walk that sidewalk to go there.

Yep they were all their for Edwards night.

14 month old threw up all over his crib last week, full on Exorcist in there. I went to bed the next night thinking it was kinda chilly and then threw up every last ounce of liquid I had in my body on repeat.

My wife couldn't remember the last time I was sick like that (been together for 13 years). Outside brown bottle flu at a bachelor party it's been a while. Kids are germ factories case eleventy billion.

I have a one year old in daycare. I don't know what it feels like to not have something at all times.
That’ll change for you next year. I was skeptical too, but the catching stuff eventually just completely ended. I’ve got a 2 year old and we’ve been pretty healthy all winter.

Consider yourself lucky.

I like at our place how they put a warning on the door. OK. In the next 2 weeks we'll have Covid, Hand-Foot-Mouth and some other **** I've never heard of

Yeah that'd be great except as soon as we exit that little zone, Thing #2, due early May, is going to take itself to daycare and we get to start all over.

True, I’ve got #2 heading to daycare next month. I’ll let you know how that goes…

The notices on the door are great. Like perfect little glimpses into my next 3 weeks. I saw pinkeye on a room earlier this week.

FWIW, the kids were sick all the ******* time but as adults, *we* were sick far fewer times.

Before having kids if someone said they had HFM my response would've been "The thing that cows get?". Then my first gave me hand foot and mouth and I got blisters all over my hands and feet for like 2 months. Just glad my nails didn't come off I guess

I spent too much time in the industry to not still call it "hoof and mouth" and have to correct myself every time. I'm sure the oldest had that but we never noticed. The younger? Holy hell, 3 days of the worst damn diaper rash I've ever seen. It was so awful. And he got it AGAIN six months later in the summer. I felt greatly misled about that being a one time thing.

My kiddo had it twice. Both times were fairly mild. My husband got it from our little the second go round, and he said the blisters on his hands were awful. Somehow I avoided it.
