But then Baylor/BYU was tough defense again with no room to breathe even out past the three point line. It's almost like there is a common thread here...Noticed the same thing Creighton/Uconn game last night
I don't think it's awkward at all. These players only meetings are monumentally overblown. The media eats it up...and so do fans. What? Where the heck were you getting that I was implying it was something like that? Such a strange take from you.
Players only meetings are usually about getting the team to come together without the coach. There could be a million reasons why they need to happen. All I'm saying is it's a bit of a weird dynamic when you have one player on the team that is the son of the coach and a second former player as part of the meeting who is also a son of the coach. We have no idea what they're talking about or why they need to talk about it, but you kind of have to acknowledge the extra layer of awkwardness that could create. That's all I'm saying.
What incentive does ESPN have to get more Big Ten teams in? They don't have a contract with the league and they don't broadcast the tournament.
FOXs bracket guy who also works for BTN only had 6 Big Ten teams in yesterday's update.
Either it is a players only meeting or it isn't. This meeting wasn't since there was a non-player in attendance. It is akin to a coach telling a couple of captains that they need to call a meeting...and here is what I want you to say. Not a players only meeting because the coach is there even if only by proxy.I don't think it's awkward at all. These players only meetings are monumentally overblown. The media eats it up...and so do fans.
Meh. What would the equivalent of Connor be for a former Cyclone? Terrence Lewis? If we had a former player doing this we would be all for it. I'm just sayin'.
I was coming around to your way of thinking until you compared C Mac too an average P6 player. You'd be against an average former Cyclone being involved?
Yeah I mean why doesn't Fran just make it official and make him an assistant or something? Connor clearly isn't cutting the mustard as the Indiana Pacers towel boy, seems like he is back in Iowa City quite a bit.If everyone wants Connor at a meeting, then have at it. With that said, there's no changing my mind that it's incredibly lame that he's still just hanging around the locker room and listening in on team meetings. Go find a career or something.
There are few things in sports that make me chuckle more than the “players only meeting”. You hear about them frequently in baseball. I would love for somebody to do a study looking at the correlation between these meetings and a significant turnaround of the teams season fortunes. My best guess would be zero.I don't think it's awkward at all. These players only meetings are monumentally overblown. The media eats it up...and so do fans.
This is such a strange thing to argue about, even for CF.
I don't think Baylor is that great defensively. In the past of course. That's what's been so weird about them past couple years is that they're a lot different than how they've been with Drew. They're a lot more offensive geared now imoBut then Baylor/BYU was tough defense again with no room to breathe even out past the three point line. It's almost like there is a common thread here...
It's been this year and last year. This year they're #85 in AdjD per kenpom and last year they were #107. Previous years they were #13, #22 and #4. They are not a poor defensive team this year though. BYU is #55 FWIW.I don't think Baylor is that great defensively. In the past of course. I haven't figured out exactly what the argument is about, but I have decided that it's not interesting enough to find out. This is such a strange thing to argue about, even for CF.
Yeah it actually is pretty weird for a player who just graduated to come back and talk at a players only meeting. It'd be weird if he would've came even for a full team meeting, particularly because he literally just graduated. You add in that Connor is also the coach's son and all around it's just a weird situation. That's not even mentioning that Connor was not exactly a beloved teammate throughout his career there.I see I started something. I for one would think it’s really weird for Gabe K to be in a player only meeting for this years team, talking about how we need to toughen up. There is no we there. He’s not on the team.
I’m all for former players being involved in the program. For example how at BYU Halliburton was at the game and in the locker room. But it would be weird to me if Halliburton was a big part of a meeting on how we need to play tougher and our teams losses are unacceptable.
I don't know the guy, but he just doesn't seem to me like a good person. Probably because of histrionics like this:
