Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

If we had a former player doing this we would be all for it. I'm just sayin'.

In a players' only meeting? He's not a player on the team.

Maybe a talk to the team at practice with the coaches or something.

Although that's usually reserved for players that were good so still not sure what Connor was doing there.

Call me crazy, but the point of a players only meeting would typically be to exclude coaches. I'd imagine you'd also then want to exclude someone with a direct line to the coach, such as, say, his son. I'd imagine that's especially so when said coach's son isn't even on the team.

But it seemed to have worked. I'll make fun of Iowa til the cows come in but they have tons of valid options to make fun of. We don't need to create them...we are better than that (are we?).

Andy Katz is going to so loud about this and call for 9 B1G teams.

There will be something in there about 'eye test'.
Andy Katz needs to take an eye test.

Watched the game…no matter ones individual hate level of Iowa, Izzo is really a ****. He should have five technicals minimum per game. Every time you touch an official should be an auto ejection.
Define 'touch an official' because TJ is shoulder to shoulder with an official for most of the game.

You'd be against an average former Cyclone being involved?

I get what you're saying, but the extra layer here is the former player is the son of the current head coach. It's not his place to be in a player's only meeting. It also makes it a strange situation when the coach has another son on the roster that would be included in this meeting.

And anyone in the B1G that they've played will too.

ESPN is going to do everything they can to get 7-8 B1G teams in.
What incentive does ESPN have to get more Big Ten teams in? They don't have a contract with the league and they don't broadcast the tournament.

FOXs bracket guy who also works for BTN only had 6 Big Ten teams in yesterday's update.

Placing your hands on an official or bumping them. TJ may be shoulder to shoulder but that's because he wants to get close enough where they can have a conversation and it's not seen as him trying to one up him or something. Also notice that TJ rarely ever talks to officials without his hands behind his back. He does that to show calmness as tons of coaches wail their arms or throw air punches and look nuts.

I don't think you understand how these meetings work. It's not national defense.

Watching ISU/Houston last night and then Iowa/MSU tonight was eye opening. It’s like watching a completely different sport.

The biggest difference I see is ball pressure. Iowa/MSU could pass it around the perimeter with ease. ISU/Houston- everything across half court is contested. Everything. You have to earn it.
Noticed the same thing Creighton/Uconn game last night

What I think is hilarious about some Iowa fans is this idea that ISU has a **** ton of NIL funds and just out spends teams and that is why they are good this year. I mean literally the only high profile recruit or transfer on the team is Omaha and he doesn't play. They love to make excuses for Fran's horrible track record of recruiting especially at the guard position.

I'll reiterate, we can't both be a poverty university as their fanbase claims and have insanely deep pockets to pay our players lol.

If everyone wants Connor at a meeting, then have at it. With that said, there's no changing my mind that it's incredibly lame that he's still just hanging around the locker room and listening in on team meetings. Go find a career or something.

Agreed. I just don't want language that isn't thought through when they start talking about automatic ejections.

What? Where the heck were you getting that I was implying it was something like that? Such a strange take from you.

Players only meetings are usually about getting the team to come together without the coach. There could be a million reasons why they need to happen. All I'm saying is it's a bit of a weird dynamic when you have one player on the team that is the son of the coach and a second former player as part of the meeting who is also a son of the coach. We have no idea what they're talking about or why they need to talk about it, but you kind of have to acknowledge the extra layer of awkwardness that could create. That's all I'm saying.
