A lot of times with the fat tire I just preemptively go off the trail if people aren't paying attention and ignoring my calls. But that becomes a lot more hairy when riding the road bike. Grass and packed gravel is no big deal but there are a lot of places on the trails I frequent where you might not want to do that with the road bike because of terrain, surfaces or obstacles.Doesn’t matter what direction you say, they always seem to move/turn in that direction.
Last summer a guy walking on the right side of the path, after I loudly addressed my presence, didn’t do anything, I keep saying loudly I was there and still nothing. All of the sudden he just turned to his left and I came within a fraction of an inch of hitting him head on. I was able to literally jump my bike to the side. He was very apologetic but yeah the head phone issue is bad. I even play music on my cell phone kinda loud to help people know there is someone around.
Don’t get me started on the 3 wide walk&chat people.
