*** Official #10 IOWA STATE vs Cincinnati Game(Day) Thread ***

What has Cincy’s turnover rate been this year? As we saw with Houston in the first half, there’s no way to prepare in practice for our ball pressure. I expect the first 10 min of the game to be an adjustment period for them; hitting our shots and building a lead early will be important
They average 11.5 turnovers a game, with an assist to turnover of 1.3

Fair analysis by their fans.
Hopefully Gilbert can make them pay if they do sag off him on the 3 pt line. He’s under 30% for the season but 40% in the last 6 games.

They've played 10 conference games, 8 against ranked opponents.
They have lost in big 12 play by 1,3,4,5,4,5 to teams ranked #25, 14, 15, 7, unranked, 5 and they have three wins over ranked teams including two on the road.
At best, we can hope for a nailbiter based on the above.
After us, they play 6 unranked big 12 squads and Houston.

Playing Houston on Saturday was probably a pretty good way to prepare for ISU unfortunately.

That's rough to have so many slip away. I watched some of their last two games. Winning at Tech and coming back against Houston after getting punched in the mouth tells you all you need to know about them. They are going to keep coming, which is a testament to Wes Miller to keep them fighting.

Looking at their schedule, it looks like the get to avoid playing away games at ISU, KState, Okie State, and Texas and they only get Baylor, BYU, KU and Tech on the road. Outside of not having to come to Hilton, that was a tough draw for them this year. Getting BYU and Tech on the road was impressive.

After tonight, I'm kinda pulling for them the rest of the way.

Thanks Rulzzz!

Somebody tell me what to think here. Cincy -1.5, but I really don't know. I think the Bearcats are very good, just don't know how good yet, and they are at home. It would be a great road win!

Iowa State
67 - 64 Cincinnati

Go Cyclones!!!
This is currently a Q1a game for the Cyclones.

Not sure why, but I think we control this one wire-to-wire without ever pulling away but you just feel like we've got it the whole game. Similar vibe to beating Wisconsin in the tourney 2 years ago.

They are third worst in the league in conference play at 12.9 TOs per game.

70-68 ISU is right where the metrics have it, although this feels like a game where both offenses struggle - just a physical rock fight where there's no easy baskets (but probably a large number of FTs), ending more like 60-58.
In conference play UC is almost as bad as ISU from the line at .692. (ISU .688)

But on Saturday they only turned it over against Houston 8 times !!!! They also held Houston to 3-16 from three point range, which are the two things that kept them in the game. They also took 25 FTs to Houston's 14, which is very unusual and had several Houston starters in foul trouble.

The thing about performing out of character like that is that, while teams always focus on building on it, they almost always revert to form. Forcing turnovers is definitely a key as usual, as is keeping at least even on the boards.
