Well George did throw in a few, but the vast majority of songs the Beatles recorded were written by Lennon and McCartney. The duo would allow Harrison to get one song an album and they would wrote the rest. Lennon's name going first always bugged McCartney, he thought him and John had an agreement that whichever one, was the primary writer, that name should be listed first on the record, telling everyone which one had written it. The record label was against it, so it never happened. After the death of Lennon, McCartney who by then owned most of the rights to their songs wanted to correct what he saw as wrong. When word got out, Lennon's wife Yoko had a cow about it, and McCartney backed down saying he would not change them. On a few of the early releases the writing credits did list as McCartney first. There is also a very early one with McCartney misspelled.
