49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

This idea that the 49ers don't have a good defense is interesting, they were easily a top 10 defense, probably top 5 over the course of the regular season.
They have the potential to have a great defensive outing any week. Unfortunately, they're not disciplined enough or giving their all and then teams can pick them apart pretty easily. It's been pretty much feast or famine. I'm hopeful the Detroit game kicked them in the ass watching film and come out all guns blazing.

Well, over the last half of the season, I'd say the 49er defense hasn't even been average. They were absolutely embarrassed by the Packers and the Lions in the first half of each game. If the come out like that tomorrow, the game will be over by half time.

Since their bye week they gave up 17 points per game and just under 300 yards per game, both of those are top 5 territory, they also forced 15 turnovers.

And they rank 14th in pass defense.

Look, I'm not saying the 49er defense is horrible. Just saying it's been horrible in the first half of their playoff games. If it's the same tomorrow, I'm afraid Brock's chances of leading another amazing come from behind win are slim.

If they can go into half time at least tied, I like their chances.

You mean Sunday, of course. The problem lies with KC's defense being absolutely nails in the second half over the last 8 weeks. While KC's second half offense has left something to be desired lately, they haven't needed it that much because of the defense. The defense has averaged 4 pts given up in the second half over that stretch and hasn't given up more than 7.

He's probably more vulnerable to fumbles on passing plays. As a runner, he's hopefully securing the ball as a running back would.
Ya accept you're probably getting hit 85% of the time the way Lamar runs. Hardly ever if you're on time in the pocket. It's simple statistics.

In the playoffs they are averaging giving up about 380 ypg. Small sample size, but they did not play well in the playoffs.

But yes, they still are good, just not elite like the narrative has been. In their last several games the defense has only really shut down the Commanders.

They were elite last year, but they are still a very good defense overall, even if they haven't played well in the playoffs. I'm just saying the idea that they didn't have a good defense this year but the Ravens did doesn't seem to fit.

One thing I would note is that the Ravens did a better job winning when Lamar had a less than stellar QBR than the niners did when Purdy didn't play well.

Really don't need to hear anything else from anyone else after that. Really high praise from a guy who would know as well as anyone in the world.
I don’t know, man. Colin Cowherd knows a hell of a lot more about being an NFL quarterback than Drew Brees

DirecTV was pushing close to $200/month and we had crappy internet out in the country, so I switched to Starlink and got YT TV. Prices have gone up, but at least we have decent internet now. Streaming can save more money if you only want a few options, like say, sports and movies. Most families want local and network TV AND sports AND movies
How happy are you with Starlink??? I'm thinking of ditching mediacom altogether and giving it a try.

Detroit is a loaded/very good team. Their Dline is tough. I also believe the Packers were maybe the hottest team entering the playoffs. Their offense finally hand nearly everyone back and Love was rolling. Their D finally got healthy and they have enough fire power there to give teams fits.

SF definitely earned their way into the Super Bowl.

I think cable internet is a better value. Starlink is good, reliable internet where cable isn't available. Starlink is 110 per month and as I remember,, it runs about 100 mb/s.
