Holy **** that’s a big win

Yeah I caught the fast break on a replay highlight. Not a great moment for him. And yes he does get “stuck” in the lane in conference but as I stated earlier, I’m actually even impressed he’s been able to get shots off a majority of the time. It’s not like he’s getting completed swatted EVERY time.

Here’s to hoping he can continues to develop! He seems like he’s got the work ethic.
IMO, he just needs to add 10 lbs of muscle and he will be fine. Then ZRF can move onto the next guy to hate.

I agree with all of this. I would expect Pav will need to become a more aggressive spot-up shooter in order to get more minutes next season. Assuming everyone comes back as expected/hoped, it's definitely not obvious where any more minutes for him would come from, and that's before we even start talking about Hamilton, Indrusaitis, or Pierce competing for time. With all the ball handling and solid playmaking from Lipsey, Gilbert, and Jones, Pav has to do something a bit different to distinguish himself.
Just think of all the sophomores we did not give up in the past, Naz, Thomas, Sullivan, etc. Let him develop.

I didn't mean to imply that Pav can't develop. I'm a fan of his skillset and think he can. I'm just thinking about how his development would lead to playing time, and I think it could best come by being a more aggressive shooter, which would also help open up the driving ability and passing skillset we've already seen from him.

Naz is actually a great example where, coming in as a high school recruit, I believe he was more of a combo guard. Then he realized that he probably wouldn't be getting playing time as a primary ball handler and playmaker, so he forced his way into playing time by becoming a great shooter who could fill into Tyrus McGee's role.

Super entitled.
Texas fans I think look at Iowa State and probably everyone else in the conference except KU and OU and maybe now Houston the same way that we look at non-conference buy-games, like the idea that this team might be pretty good and you might not be able to dog-walk them isn't on the radar as a possibility.

No rationale fan would look at this game and be in shock at losing it.

Beating Texas is always good. The Big 12 should have let them go earlier and take their Oklahoma lapdog with them.
I'm okay sending them out with an L...

TJ is using him based on game match ups. Some games he plays more than others. Does not put him in a positions to fail.

That was terrible, just from a quality and content standpoint.

First, he pirates the game feed, cant believe the Locked On ppl are ok with that. Crazy.

Second, he has nothing to say. Throws around "embarrassed" a lot, but doesn't say why. His one insight is that if they'd played as hard in the first half as the 2nd half, they'd have won. Wow. ZRF would be proud of that insight.

Third, he didn't quite say it, but he clearly thinks Texas is better than ISU, even saying forget all the metrics and rankings. We are Texas, we are better, and we only lost because the other team wanted it more.

Apparently working for Locked In network is like 7th grade health class. As long as you turn something in every day, it not only isn't graded, but it isn't even looked at.
I mean have you heard the locked on Big XII guy? he's a goddamn clown. They have some guys that are alright. I liked the old Big XII guy, the Pac XII guy was less in denial and more putting a positive face on things. Most of those channels are trash, though.

I tried for a while, but he started doing bet picks during FB season, but not with any real analysis of the teams. So not very interesting to me. Plus he was generally really wrong, like his lock of the week was always dead wrong lol. So after about 2 doses of that I gave up. Tried one other time when looking for content, and idk wtf he was even talking about.

Outside the CF team, the Bears365 guys are about as good as it gets, they are usually OK. They do some dumb lists, and I think Smoak's kid brings nothing. But they get a lot of interviews with key people, and often good insight/intel on the Texas programs that you wouldn't get here.

I like how TJ uses Pav, Watson for just spot minutes to save energy for the starters. But then when they are in, they both make winning plays.

Last 3 games, combined, they are averaging:
10mpg, 3.3 ppg, 3 rpg, 1 steal/block pg

That's a pretty handy "7th guy" - basically averaging a double double if they were playing 30 mpg. Says a lot to both guys too, working hard and ready to play, even knowing they aren't the stars.

When it comes to Pav, he has some limits, but I agree he's good to have as adjustable minutes depending on game situation. Not like he's playing 20-plus minutes per game consistently.

Sometimes this season I've thought, y'know, on a couple of McDermott's ISU teams, a player like Pav might have been a regular starter. Think about that.

Paveletzke would've been the most talented guard Greg had outside Diante Garrett

I think he would have been a big contributor on Hoiberg teams. He's just not a great fit for the physical style TJ wants to play and really just how physical overall the conference has gotten. Hopefully he can adjust and keep getting better like he did in the non-con.

Pav doesn't quite have Curtis Jones's size (listed at 6'2" vs. 6'4", and 6'2" looks awfully generous for Pav to me), but I think he can possibly develop into a role similar to what Curtis is playing. He's only a sophomore, lots of time still.
