Holy **** that’s a big win

That was terrible, just from a quality and content standpoint.

First, he pirates the game feed, cant believe the Locked On ppl are ok with that. Crazy.

Second, he has nothing to say. Throws around "embarassed" a lot, but doesnt say why. His one insight is that if theyd played as hard in the first half as the 2nd half, theyd have won. Wow. ZRF would be proud of that insight.

Third, he didnt quite say it, but he clearly thinks Texas is better than ISU, even saying forget all the metrics and rankings. We are Texas, we are better, and we only lost because the other team wanted it more.

Apparently working for Locked In network is like 7th grade health class. As long as you turn something in every day, it not only isnt graded, but it isnt even looked at.

Respectfully disagree partially here. Have watched Pav closely this year, one thing Pav has proven is his ability to get into the paint. It doesn’t “look” visually all that appealing when he drives (in fact - sometimes it looks like he has no business doing it at all against Big 12 competition), but he’s consistently getting most of his shots from inside 12ft, often times with floaters, spin moves, up and unders, etc. It’s actually pretty impressive given his seeming athletic shortcomings. His 3 buckets last night were not luck; they were well earned and much needed.

I would love though to see him shoot more from deep. I’ve been a bit disappointed that his release isn’t all that quick/efficient. And at his size, it needs to be.
He's shifty. Really knows where he is in space and has developed some nice shots to overcome his size. I love it when he drives and dishes. I don't care who we're playing you have to respect that part of his game. Makes it tough when we have multiple guards able to do it.

I agree with all of this. I would expect Pav will need to become a more aggressive spot-up shooter in order to get more minutes next season. Assuming everyone comes back as expected/hoped, it's definitely not obvious where any more minutes for him would come from, and that's before we even start talking about Hamilton, Indrusaitis, or Pierce competing for time. With all the ball handling and solid playmaking from Lipsey, Gilbert, and Jones, Pav has to do something a bit different to distinguish himself.

I would agree with this in non-conference play but you have to remember the level of competition and distinguish between what he's facing now. Those heady but non-explosive lane moves worked on community College level competition, but against Big 12 level comp? Something positive has happened a handful of times. When you are a prime candidate for a weakside swat and can't really separate its hard to finish. So whatever moves he has had almost certainly die there.

If you watched the game last night and saw the fast break he was involved with it perfectly exemplified his difficulties with top level competition. When a player does EVERYTHING right and STILL can't score on a break that's an issue. It's not his fault but it doesn't matter when it exists nonetheless.

Yeah I caught the fast break on a replay highlight. Not a great moment for him. And yes he does get “stuck” in the lane in conference but as I stated earlier, I’m actually even impressed he’s been able to get shots off a majority of the time. It’s not like he’s getting completed swatted EVERY time.

Here’s to hoping he can continues to develop! He seems like he’s got the work ethic.

Pav seems to get into the paint pretty easily but then he isn't decisive when in there, picks up his dribble and looks around for a bailout.

Kind of. Part of the indecisiveness is he's an easy swat against most teams. When you are vertically challenged (both in actual height and athleticism) AND can't create separation, you're an easy guard. So even when Pavs gets the first step he's leary of both the recovery and the weak side help. That's with reason as he's been destroyed numerous times when getting to the lane.

If Pavs wants to be a break even player in Big 12 competition he needs to get stronger, improve his footwork/footspeed, and greatly improve his anticipation on the defensive end. If he anticipates the screens and fights through them, he's not such a liability. If he shoots more (which he CAN do) and gets a little more pip to his step, maybe he can finish more. He plays hard...no problems there, but he's got to have a "go to" on the offensive end and not have circles run around him defensively.

Last year I would have said no way, but BRE found a way to be an average to slightly above average Big 12 player after statistically being the WORST of any who played 40% or more of available minutes.

I'm pulling for him. Just because I think he should be benched doesn't mean I don't want him to succeed (like some on here think).

He made 2 ******** shots. Even though he was fortunate to make one let alone both, it showcased obvious skill to shoot them with such fluidity and with consistency.

In other words the shot IS there. So why take forced, low percentage fade aways,l when there have been open 3s he's willfully passed on? Take the 3s kid. They are there.

That's not even true though. He said if he doesn't feel like recording something then he doesn't.

I'm watching right now and even though I know the outcome the game's energy makes me nervous haha.

I'd love to see Pav let it fly more from the perimeter.
I do too. He loves to drive in the lane and while crafty, he is not terribly fast nor tall. If he could knock down a few threes I think it would help him get a step on his defender.
