Holy **** that’s a big win

That non-conference schedule is a boat anchor. I don't see a path for a one seed and the needle would have to be absolutely threaded to get to the two line.

I'm not at all saying this will happen, but you don't think a 26-5, 15-3 team and winner of the B12 tournament would get a #1 seed? Nah, I think if a team does that they're in the top 4 in the country and get a #1 seed. If we win out from here there absolutely is a path to a #1 seed. Again, I don't think this happens.

Plus, Hunter was a Prohm recruit that stuck around. There wasn't that loyalty to TJ and then you add what Texas could do financially for him given his family situation, it made sense for him.

One of those rare times where it worked out for everybody.
Yup! We got Tamin, and Hunter can go have a nice professional career in Botswana.

That's a great point that I had forgot. Prohm had much different expectations for players vs TJ. Hunter signed up for "comfortable and caring", but then got "disciplined and relentless".

Maybe. I know he's listed at 6' but I don't think he is.

There are only 2 guys under 6' in the NBA currently.
Yeah. He was never going to be an nba player. Which is why I don’t blame him for taking the check.

If a Big 12 team wins the league and the conference tournament they are gonna be a one seed and there is no room for debate. Big 12 play washes out a weak non con.

Not to mention that the intensity and focus of Prohm's and TJ's programs could not be more different. I can see where the work ethic and effort required to succeed with TJ's plan wouldn't be for everyone.

Some kids have a great deal of innate ability and don't need to be pushed to be great.

Other kids don't have as much innate ability but can be pushed into being great.

The true gems are the ones like Tamin who have both the ability and desire to be pushed. The sky is the limit for those guys.

He's of course a different kind of player, but he reminds me of Ejim, whose 4 year journey at ISU was pretty transformative. I think that's what we're going to get out of Lipsey by the time he's done.

It was also awesome that TJ recognized that Tamin needed a little nudge this week. Tamin was 'good' this last week but TJ knew he had it in him to be 'great' every game so he challenged him. Tamin responded like a champion.

Just in case you hadn't noticed, Texas had some territory in Joey Loose's CBB Imperialism Map.

Had.

I'm watching right now and even though I know the outcome the game's energy makes me nervous haha.

I'd love to see Pav let it fly more from the perimeter.

I don't think he should be out there (at all) but agree with this. He's passed up some wide open shots, even sometimes opting for a riskier/lower percentage move (drives into traffic).

If he IS going to play he needs to shoot (and make) some of those open shots. If he has ONE asset on the floor it's his ability to shoot. It certainly isn't driving the lane or being able to keep up defensively.

If someone could explain how that even works, that'd be great. Like Iowa is divided into 6 regions but only has four Division one teams?

I always lose when the family plays the board game Risk.

Respectfully disagree partially here. Have watched Pav closely this year, one thing Pav has proven is his ability to get into the paint. It doesn’t “look” visually all that appealing when he drives (in fact - sometimes it looks like he has no business doing it at all against Big 12 competition), but he’s consistently getting most of his shots from inside 12ft, often times with floaters, spin moves, up and unders, etc. It’s actually pretty impressive given his seeming athletic shortcomings. His 3 buckets last night were not luck; they were well earned and much needed.

I would love though to see him shoot more from deep. I’ve been a bit disappointed that his release isn’t all that quick/efficient. And at his size, it needs to be.

I think we may have had this land earlier in the season as well (acquired from Houston). Of course, once you hit conference season, land tends to get locked into conferences until the tournament, especially now that there isn't an inter-conference challenge midway through.
