BTN announcers definitely talk about the Big Ten like sane announcers talk about the Big 12Iowa fans are excited for two reasons.,
1.) Leistekow
2.) All of their games have been on the BTN propaganda machine.
Watching a little of this second half last night at the gym. The slowness and amount of space offensive players had was absolutely shocking. It did not look like the same division of basketball as ISU/KU or KSU/UH.
I was not impressed with Freeman vs. ISU, but he is pretty solid and will be good. He's dog crap on defense, but some of that is being a Fr. big, and some of that just comes with playing at Iowa I guess. Sandfort is a complete dork, but he can certainly score and is at least willing to try to rebound. Perkins is a whiny B, but he's a decent all-around guy.
But the rest of that roster - woof. I heard a bit yesterday on Ken Miller's show w/ Wade Lookingbill. It was strange to hear that people around the program and their view on the potential of some of these guys. When I watch guys like Dembele and Harding, I see guys that are at best guys that are a couple of years from being rotation-worthy guys in the Big 12, if ever. Not that they are terrible or can't get there, I just don't see it right now.
I was watching part of the game with couple buddies who are Iowa fans and they were pretty high on Harding. I just don't get it. A 5' 11", unathletic PG who can't shoot. What am I missing here?
I would also agree on Dembele. He is one of many Fran recruits that will be here a few years, never develop and transfer out.
Harding is 6’0”. JorBo was 6’1”. Lipsey is 6’1”, for the record. Brock definitely needs to add muscle but he’s a true FR, he’ll add enough there.
I just don't get the Hok obsession with Harding, Dix, and Freeman.
Harding - too small, can't score (or even do anything against better competition).
Dix - too unathletic for this level.
Freeman - no strength or defense.
BTN is seriously so hard to watch. There will be a game like Indiana and Iowa last night and if you didn't know any better you would think that it was a top ten matchup. I get they "sell the brand" but holy hell it's bad.BTN announcers definitely talk about the Big Ten like sane announcers talk about the Big 12
Can I ask you how you expect him to improve his defense under Mad Fran's tutelage?Freeman is going to be good. He's not completely mentally there yet on the defensive end and has trouble with fouling but he will get better. He has been impressive overall for a freshmen big.

Hey, they're bringing in a top 70 6'8" white legacy recruit next year. They're SET.If I'm an Iowa fan I'm concerned. There is nothing in the pipeline. Both Sandforts, DIx, and Harding are all MVC players and that's what you are building around.
He's nowhere near the athlete either, ppl forget Born was dunking in high school games. The comparison should be the other way aroundHawk fan friends keep telling me he's a better Bowen Born.
The problem with that is that he isn't the shooter and ballhandler that Born is, he doesn't have the outstanding lateral quickness that Born has and doesn't seem have anywhere near the basketball instincts Born has.
I don't get it either.
I'm still holding out hope Drake can earn a at large. I think if they lose 2 more 1 of which is the MVC tournament they could get an at large with 28-6 type record. Very thin margin though and still play @ Bradley, @UNI, and @indiana state.Drake ruined their chances for an at-large bid after losing at Missouri St. If the other ISU finishes strong and Drake wins the tournament, maybe they sneak two in this year. Assuming it’s ISU vs Drake in the championship.

A 28-6 record I’d assume Drake gets in as like a 13-14 seed. It’s hard to pull off that kind of record anywhere.
That SFA loss hanging over their head makes it hard to see an at large and that's before we talk the most difficult schedule in the Valley on the back half.

Plus, they're already done with Bradley, only had UNI once and are done with Drake after the game in Terre Haute on Saturday. Really difficult to win out but 18-2 or 17-3 should be enough with their metrics assuming their loss in StL was Drake, Bradley or UNI.Yeah, Drake needs to be near perfect down the stretch to still have an at-large chance. Winning @ Indiana State would go a long ways. Two games left against Bradley and @ UNI as well.
It's more realistic for Indiana State to get an at large at this point though. Indiana St has done a much better job at avoiding bad losses (they have zero currently).
The killers were missouri state and uab because they could of won both. The tough back half is actually to their benefit IF they lose just 1 more. Makes it less likely though of course. I think they'll probably drop at least 2-3 more and need to win it in St Louis. Drake like last year has a gigantic drop-off when they go to their benchThat SFA loss hanging over their head makes it hard to see an at large and that's before we talk the most difficult schedule in the Valley on the back half.
I've said it on here all year if you look at my post history. Indiana State is going to be a team I would not want to see in March. Most legacies at other schools have other high major offers. Iowa's legacies have mid-major offers and their Iowa offer, so of course they pick Iowa. It's kind of amazing how many Legacy recruits they actually get compared to other universities around the country. Normally you see a few but it feels like they have a legacy recruit every other year.
