Holy ****. I guess I didn't realize how bad this loss was for Iowa. Maryland is 99th in the NET so losing to them at home is REAL bad. Losing to Maryland and an even worse Michigan at home...they just suck.

How much will they drop with this loss in the NET and KenPom and BT?

Serious question. When Illinois visits Iowa this year, what happens if the Orange Krush invades Hawkeye-Carver Arena on an Orange Krush road trip like they had planned to do last year?

Because plenty of good seats are available, what does the AD do?

a) Not allowed like last year

b) Order more pizza

c) Give them coupons for next year

d) Convince the CR Boys and Girls Clubs it won't be as boring as last year

I just realized that Dix was also out there for end-of-the-game "defense." Two awful defenders - in Dix & Sandfort - to try and defend a very quick & athletic guard with the game on the line?! Iowa would have been better to just have fouled him up top with 8-9 seconds left and let him shoot FTs. Then, Sandfort could have driven down the court pulled up from 5 feet beyond the arc - falling down without being touched - and either making the shot or coaxing a foul to be called for a chance to win the game at the FT line.

So Fran was caught with his Dix out at the end of the game?

Just looked at Iowa's upcoming schedule and they have 6 games in a row that a decent team would go at least 5-1 if not 6-0. Big 10 is just plain crap when it gets past the top 5 or 6 teams.

They don’t play a currently ranked team until 2/17, and only three total the rest of the regular season.

The Big Ten is a joke, but when the tourney bids get handed out they will still get eight or some ridiculous number.

As I was watching the extended highlights of that game, I caught a perfect moment in the game: Maryland just advanced the ball across 1/2 court and one of the announcers is heard saying, "Gotta give Iowa credit with their improvement on the defensive end." Just as he ended that sentence, one of Md's players crossed over Harding (who stumbled) and glided to the basket for two easy points. That was hilarious!
