I thought TG (as my wife calls Watson since he played HS ball at nearby Totino Grace) played really well. He was active, physical and had some great rebounds and blocks (he was credited with one, but I think he had another). It is really what I have been hoping to see out of him. We really needed him to play big when both BRE and Ward struggled with foul trouble.

If Im Watson I am making 500 corner threes every single day this offseason. If he develops that aspect to his game he could play at the next level. His length and athleticism is off the charts. I love that TJ has been playing he and Ward in the frontcourt together. That is a lot to deal with when those two are protecting the rim and crashing the glass.

Also needs to work on handling the ball to reach his athletic potential.

I hope he is happy at ISU and sticks around. He is gonna be a good one. Dude just produces when he gets in there. Could be a huge impact player next year.
Frankly we need him to play more this year if he can keep rebounding like that. That’s one thing we’ve been pretty poor at most of the season.

He needs to be at least somewhat of a threat on offense. He doesn’t have to be great, but he’s got to be a little aggressive. I’m hoping hitting that 3 at BYU and getting some big mins and making plays today propels him. He needs to let it rip a little. Was driving me nuts earlier in the BYU game. Not looking to shoot, dribble, and cut and Gilbert hit him with a pass and he wasn’t looking for the ball. Love what he gives on the defensive end and being active on the glass. If he can give a little on offense he could be a real monster.

There’s room for a guy who defends and rebounds that well, even if the offensive role is garbage man

To an extent. If he’s getting some putbacks and cutting looking to get some looks at the rim, sure. He just needs to be a threat in some way offensively, or it makes life hard on the guys asked to run the offense and score.

Watson had 6 points today. I feel like that’s exactly what you’re describing.

Yesterday was a great start. Hopefully it’s just a matter of getting 25 minutes and getting comfortable. He’s got to cash a few more in but he was aggressive.
