I said the same thing about Part 2. They sure as heck did a good job with it though. Hopefully part 3 is not some dumbed down version.
Yeah, you don't get a sequel very often that is a good standalone movie, let alone manages to pay good homage to the first movie without being cheesy or over the top.
Maverick should pull a Rambo 3 for this one.

First he has to lay waste SE Asia with a bow and explosive arrows freeing POW's.
Rambo 2 is so bad. Doesn't work on any level.
First Blood is a legitimately good film about how Vietnam veterans were mistreated by their country.
Rambo III is peak 80s action cheese with some hilarious-to-interesting historical ironies.
Rambo 2 (whatever its actual name is) tries to do both and fails on both fronts.
