Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

So what is going on with Omaha at this point? Was he over rated? In the dog house? Just not ready for this level?

Extremely odd to have such a highly rated recruit not able to contribute at all. Wonder what he does in the off-season, does he stay or transfer? I’m guessing he won’t be able to get drafted at this point.

He’s just an athletic freak that was able to use that and his height to dominate Iowa HS level players.

In college, almost everyone is very athletic and tall, and you can’t get by with just that. You need to have skills…. ways to get the ball in the basket.

You can have very little athletic ability and still play if you’re very skilled…. like Niang. But it’s tough to find minutes if you’re just athletic but not very skilled…. like Omaha and to some extent Patrick McCaffery.

Didn’t he do really well on the AAU circuit and with team USA or something though?

I'd agree had he not been a main piece on the MOKAN team that won the Peach Jam. He's very skilled, it's just not gelling for some reason right now.

Guys that are just simply athletes don't get rated where he was. There's more there to back it up.

Which makes it so odd that he isn’t contributing at all. I figured he would be a starter averaging about 10 and 4 a game. Obviously that was way too high of expectations, but that isn’t unheard of at all for a 5 star player either.

I hope he sticks it out and learns under this coaching staff. As a big man he could have a lot worse coaches than Kyle Green to help him improve and even excel. But it will take patience and hard work.

Three things stick out, all of which are progressing. One, his body is still not B12. A year more in the weight room will fix that. Also, you can see he's still hesitant in the system. You know, "Where am I supposed to be?" But, even that I am starting to see improvement in. And, three, he needs a little more dimension to his game. All are improving. I see more minutes as the season goes on. Fingers crossed.

Add yet another excuse why Iowa lost today. Wet spots on floor caused game stoppages disrupted their game flow due to leaks in CHA roof due to all the snow.

Well…. you can’t use the Wilson ball excuse when playing at home…. so gotta find something!

Did Purdue not have to deal with the game delays??
