Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Iowa is still pretty far from the bubble imo. No quality wins, a bad loss at home vs Michigan. They'll need to win quite a bit to even be considered because there's not a ton of quad 1s left. The winnable ones may even be Q2 by end of the season. They aren't going to win against purdue or on the road vs Illinois.

Teams playing a lot better on otherside but as I said on here earlier in year this is typically when they play there best early January to mid February. There's likely still another bad stretch of basketball to come. This team won't have resume to survive it like years past.

Owen Freeman is going to be good. He's already pretty solid as a true freshman.
He's been very impressive. He can get his points without being the go to guy which he's not ready to be. Most his points are dirty work type points. He's not Frans typical recruit. Has a lot of physical tools.

He's a 6'10" white center lol I'd say he's pretty on the nose as far as the type of guy Fran is looking for. He's just more polished at this point in his career than others have been.

Much more physically gifted though imo. Very good athlete something a lot of the others aren't. I guess he's white though. That's true

In my totally unbiased opinion Crooks would be a contributor on a men’s team but Clark wouldn’t score a single point
I honestly don't know how you could make either of those arguments. Crooks is 6'3". She would get swatted out of the gym in the men's game. Clark would be pretty much JorBo. She could definitely knock down a few threes a game.

Let's not get carried away. Him, Dix, and Harding keep getting talked about (by Hok fans) as if they're the Showtime Lakers but looked like the Generals against us and any good teams they've faced.

Torvik likes their chances a lot more now than a week or two ago...

I saw them in the 40s on the wrong side of the bubble before these recent wins.

Then again...

They have a legitimate chance to beat Purdue at home. I am not very high on Purdue at all. Edey is good but there are so many flaws in their backcourt I'm not sure how they can be seriously considered as an elite team.

Purdue's backcourt is actually a good matchup for Iowa as they aren't overly athletic and have allowed some pretty high shooting percentages, especially in their losses. If Iowa can bait Purdue into chucking a bunch of 3s (they shot 33!!! against Nebraska), while shooting it well themselves, they can win. Make anyone beat you besides Edey. It's the anti-Garza approach.

The fanbase is as apathetic as it's been since Lick so I don't believe these Showtime Lakers comments.
I still think Iowa would get beat relatively soundly by most top 20 teams. This team has a low ceiling. Bubble team is about the top and floor is like 15-16. I really doubt dix or harding do much this season against solid teams. Freeman is an exciting prospect though and already pretty good. I dont think im going too far

I agree that I don't buy purdue as an elite team for reasons you mentioned. Some team will make them really uncomfortable in the tournament and that's how you have to beat them. Make their guards play 94 ft. Still they're awkward with Edey, well coached in the half-court and Iowa's not the type of team to play them way you need to. Other than the Big Ten Tournament championship purdues been a bad matchup for Iowa. Probably lost 8 out of last 10 if i had to guess.
