Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

Hawk loving father in law came over for dinner last night. Afterwards I was sitting down in the living room where he had been sitting already for a few minutes, and he had Caitlin on the TV. Without saying anything I picked the remote up off the coffee table in front of him and flipped it to the chiefs game. He shot up in a hurry and yelled "What the **** do you think you're doing?" Mind you this is my house, my tv, and he just got done eating my food. And I had just finished washing his dishes. I didn't yell back at him or anything. I calmly sat down and told him, "in my house during football playoffs season, we watch football." And turned the volume up on the TV. He muttered something at me under his breath and next thing I knew he had his phone up watching Caitlin.

In a couple years you should force him to watch wbb instead of NFL, tell him you came around to his view.

We have a good relationship actually. He is fair to ISU unlike most hawk fans you'll meet. But his obsession with Caitlin is right up there with the worst of them. Every time we get together there is a conversation about how wonderful she is, what she's doing for the women's game, for the state etc, how she's the best ever and reminds him of watching the start of Michael Jordan's career blah blah blah. I can only put up with it so long. Last night it was actually one of the first conversations we had. I brought up how the Iowa State women's team beat a top 4 team earlier in the day. He acted impressed and even made a comment about how we have a good young team. But then a few hours later as he was scrolling thru his phone he goes, "Hey did you see the Iowa State women beat the #4?" Almost as if he had no recollection of the prior conversation just hours before. I'll cut him some slack for being old, but also wondered if he was trying to troll.

You should have said, "get the **** out and take your daughter with you!"

Mental acuity of a true Hawk fan.

This whole thing is getting weird. She's a great player and I'm glad she is attracting more attention to WBB, but some Hawks act like you hate women if you don't bow at the alter of CC. Personally, I have no issue with the chirping, but the whining is annoying. When you can audibly hear her complain during games we have a problem. She's the superstar, though, so she won't get as many technicals as she deserves. I respect that she is a great player, but she's a Hawk, so I hate her by default.

Wish this was the last year of it, but I'm sure she'll be back. Bet they get bounced in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament this year.

It’s particularly annoying to be accused of hating women when you are a woman.

She and Connor both whine incessantly at the refs. She’s just better at basketball. That doesn’t give her a pass to whine about every freaking call.

I’ve been pretty vocal that I believe the hate in this thread is a little overblown but this past week the tweets I have seen have been slightly ridiculous. What’s inspiring about this? Athletes, celebrities, politicians, and anyone who is publicly known has signed autographs.

Media is up in arms if you aren’t a fan of CC but don’t realize they are the reason some get turned off.

I'll never forget the argument I briefly had with a hok fan that absolutely could not believe I watched Thursday night football instead of the Iowa Womens game lol......their obsession with her is weird. Its even funnier they can be up 25 points with 5 to go and Bluder keeps her in padding her stats.

What is so special and heartwarming about that?

Nearly every popular college or pro athlete does that after every game.

Heck, the high school athletes at the school near me sit at a table and sign autographs after the game for kids. And they are there a long time. Not 5 mins.
