Candle is a TERRIBLE coach, regarded by most of the football analysts. Toledo is the Alabama of the MAC & they always underachieve with Candle, relative to talent

Matt was regarded as a good coach, Candle is not. I’m just telling you from all the national cfb podcasts I listen to. They dog Candle all the time
Even more unlikely is a school hiring a coach just because he's from Toledo.
@Cfinnerty16 is correct. If you listen to any national college football podcast anytime they talk G5 and Toledo they talk about how underwhelming he is as a head coach.

If we are looking for the next Campbell we should be looking at the G5’s that beat us this year.
I don’t know anything about Candle but his coaching record at his current school is not horrible. Basically what Matts is at Iowa State. I’ll take everyone’s word for it that he should be doing better though

FWIW, UW Dawg Pound did a fan poll of 8 coaches and who the fans would want. CMC finished last.
I don't think CMC leaves, but I have a fairly good inkling he was all but gone to USC until Riley took it last minute. Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan don't appear to be hiring any time soon, so I could see him using this as his excuse to get into the Big 10. Not necessarily a money thing, but I think the Big 10 where he's always wanted to be. Hope I'm wrong.

That doesn’t mean much. Half the ISU fans on here wouldn’t pick Campbell, why would the UW fans?
