If Campbell takes Washington you gotta think Golesh is Pollards first call but who knows

Alex is very talented, but given how quickly he got out of Ames for another opportunity, I wonder how highly JP values him.

LL is definitely the splashier hire right now, nationally. I just find the silence out of JP and our football program and Danning's familiarity with our state and CMC a tad concerning.

Oh yeah, I find it concerning. But I never think it is good for the teams to lose coaches. Hell, I semi-followed the stupid Michigan State search because I was worried.

As far as JP's silence, it's been less than 48 hours that the job opened up. Of course, he's not going to say anything.

I really think that Jamie would hire Nate with the idea that he'd be the best chance to keep things together. You could get Nate for pretty cheap and keep most of the offensive staff together. And you'd have a shot at keeping the players.

I feel like this would be realistic but I'm not sure how much I like the idea.

It's as good as any option we'd have.

Campbell leaving would be terrible for our football program.
I love Campbell and don’t want him to leave. But I’m not as dour about the situation this time around as I would have been after the Fiesta Bowl or the year after.

We’ve kind of settled into a 7-8 win team. Him leaving would gut the team for this year and next. But it could be rebuilt to that same level we were at this year with a good hire (e.g. him leaving wouldn’t block us from a prospective CFP berth next year like it would have after 2020).

And tbh, the recruiting class for this year was pretty underwhelming. It would suck to lose this young core, but a new coach could breathe some life into recruiting, and definitely get us back to a 7-8 win team in a couple years.

I don’t think Campbell is even a realistic candidate at Washington. Pretty sure they already have their guy. It’s not going to be Matt.
Yeah I have no idea if he is or isn’t. My feel is he’d definitely be more willing to move this time around, given we’ve regressed some. I just didn’t think a higher tier program would be very interested in him.

If he does go to Washington, they’ve definitely been turned down by some guys imo. He’d be an attractive option C or D. But the fans and boosters will not be happy with that hire

No they weren’t, seriously man. They finished in the top 25 twice during his tenure.
They weren’t going to fire Sark but fans were absolutely questioning if he can take them to the next level and we’re starting to get restless.

Let’s be real, at almost any program after 5, 7, 7, 7, and 8 wins the “why should we settle for 7-6” voices get loud and they absolutely were at UW.

Yeah I don’t think they passed over the offensive coordinator to hire Campbell. I think they hire some sort of Pete Carroll assistant coach . Something like that

Silence is what we’ve ALWAYS gotten. Whether Campbell is or isn’t a candidate, there will be no noise from ISU’s side. My recollection is that extensions have always been negotiated and announced late, too.
