***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

I recall a time back in the 2008-2009 time frame where something like this happened. Wasn't supposed to snow at all , and then out of the middle of nowhere we got hit with a 5-in storm. Driving from Nevada to Ames was atrocious.

I think it was...2013? We were living in Ottumwa, and I got stuck up here in Des Moines. Spent the night at my in-laws. I saw the front coming in real time, and I remember saying to myself "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that a thunderstorm's coming in." Took me an hour and a half if not two hours to get from Jordan Creek to Johnston where my inlaws lived. (Back roads, too)

I think we’ve gotten 3 inches so far in Monticello and it’s still snowing. 2 feet of snow in like 5 days is bizarre

Oh man, I have an entire chapter of the book on that day at work.

Had a boss straight out of The Office at the time that added an extra carnival of insanity on top of the whole mess.

Sometimes I still can't believe everything was on the up and up. We had to be in a sitcom or some hidden camera something or other.

Well poop more snow tonight already not as much as the metro, but still more than I prefer.

So.... What you are all saying is my wife is right and I shouldn't drive to Ames on Friday from CR? I hate it when she is right. Please give me hope that she is not. Any chance that it will be OK for the Men's game at least?

I’m supposed to be at a meeting in Western MN tomorrow. I’m sure there will be like 7 people there for my presentation, CF is granting me permission to postpone right?
