Nice win for State, but my biggest concern is the offensive side of the ball.
Going against the top defense in the country, I’m not very concerned.

Do you think Houston is concerned about their offense? They did score less than us.Nice win for State, but my biggest concern is the offensive side of the ball.
That was a great win last night, no doubt, but I do think Houston is WAY overrated. They haven't beaten anyone this year at all. Haven't beaten a ranked team yet.
As Fran said last night... Sampson told him that their offense starts as soon as someone throws a shot up on the rim on their team. So basically... someone throw a shot up, and then everyone else just crash the boards and knock down anyway in your way! And hopefully you get a tip in or a putback. That is their offense. That isn't going to work against all these great Big 12 teams I don't think.
I do think they are a decent team, probably top 15 or 20, but not #2.
As I said... it was a great win... but they are going to have at least a handful of losses this season IMO.
So they'll probably have 5 losses? You realize that kind of record in the Big 12 is easily #1 seed? That was a great win last night, no doubt, but I do think Houston is WAY overrated. They haven't beaten anyone this year at all. Haven't beaten a ranked team yet.

Probably close, I think they'll be a 2 seed and Kansas will be a 1. I think they'll go 13-5 in the Big 12.I think they'll get more than 4 more losses.
You think they'll be ranked in the top 4 at the end of the year? That's basically about where you have to be to get a 1 seed.

They have multiple guys who have been with the program for 2 or 3 years now and have deep tournament runs. I feel like you are downplaying them.
Agreed, but they are also 4-1 in Q1 games. They don't have any high end wins but a few over teams ranked in the 30s.Don't get me wrong... I hope they run the table... makes our win last night that much better.
I just think they are a bit overrated at this point. Don't really have a good win on their resume. The Big 12 will give them a lot of chances for good wins though. Will be interesting for sure.
Respectfully, I do not believe it is. I think we are actually just as 'bad' of a 3-point shooting team as any of TJ's teams. Our 3-point shooting is significantly better than last year. We're not great but we have four guys that the defense has to go out and guard. That allows us to run our offense more effectively.

That is a lot of "ifs", we both know that this team will not play defense like that every night, nor will they get the line 10 more than their opponent does on a given night. We played well last night, but we still have to shoot better from distance to continue to win games, especially on the road.
Agree that we need to hit more threes but don’t agree that we won’t play defense like that every night. That is a lot of "ifs", we both know that this team will not play defense like that every night, nor will they get the line 10 more than their opponent does on a given night. Still not over how good this shot is. Assuming he doesn't NIL away or something that's one that should live in Iowa State lore

I don't hope they run they table. No, not gonna say that. They are good. We'll see how good soon enough.Don't get me wrong... I hope they run the table... makes our win last night that much better.

Get back satan!Respectfully, I do not believe it is. I think we are actually just as 'bad' of a 3-point shooting team as any of TJ's teams.
Thus far this year against 'high major' teams, we're 35 - 120 for 29% - with the 2 "best" shooting nights being DePaul and Iowa. In 2 Big 12 games, we're 6 - 31.
The numbers against bad competition have REALLY skewed the metrics; against "decent" to good (to great) defenses, our offense simply has not run smoothly or consistently, thus far this year.
Watch the first two minutes here with Sampson postgame. I realize his team just lost a tough close game and he's disappointed but wow what an ass****:
