Lmao. BRE shot 42% or so in conference play last year but that didn't stop Otz from using him late in games. So if that IS the reason why does that matter now when it apparently hasn't in the past.

That was TJs 8th top ten win in less than 2.5 seasons at ISU. Does Fran have that in his entire career?
ZRF, you may not have noticed while you were evidently on sabatical, but Rob has been playing great. Since returning from injury, so has Hasan. This is a luxury! I trust TJ to use them as he feels appropriate.
"Who does #2 work for?"I don't know. If we can't complain after beating #2, when can we complain?
That is a really good crowd tonight, in this weather!!! Iowa State and Hilton are special places!
Probably already said, but great job Cyclone fans!!! All of you who were able to make the game should be applauded, the weather was bad. You were greatly rewarded, and it should be a game to remember!!!
Probably true but I also liked some of those fouls better than letting them score. Make them make free throws.Ward had nice stats, but I don't think he was the most impactful player on the floor. I believe a lot of the reason he had 4 fouls, for instance, was because he was contesting and fouling guys at the rim, whereas Jones is much better at rotating to keep guys from getting to the rim in the first place.
Looks like both have 8 top 10 wins. But Fran obviously goes back to 2010-11.
This 100 percent. I felt like I was watching Huggins and West Virginia, but without the press. Handcheck all night and dare the refs to call them all. They can't and they won't.Houston was very handsy and with MM in particular were bodying him up coming off screens.
I think you are right. If ISU got a tightly called game they could adjust this year.
Houston got called for quite a few more fouls, got away with more, so I think it was about how you might expect. Houston is one of those tough teams to officiate. Overall great defense but lots of fouling.
SIAP. Works of art should be glorified.
There was short stretch in first half where I thought they should have called one or two on them, but overall they let both Teams play and don't remember much to complain about in 2nd halfWe had 11 fouls (our players); they got called for 19.
I'll have to watch the game (radio only for me tonight) but it did sound like (John and Eric, they are usually pretty fair but do wear cyclone colored glasses) there may have been quite a few more uncalled fouls that Houston got away with.
Houston fans on their message board are not used to losing. They are having a hard time coming to terms that they might drop 4+ games in conference.
Totally agree with King. The guy was tough as nails tonight and you have to be against Houston. That's a really good team we beat tonight.Got to be honest, that game raised my heart rate incredibly. But that was one of the most enjoyable games in recent memory. The Kansas State game in Manhattan last year when GK hit that three comes close.
Obviously Mom’s fadeway beauty was glorious. But collectively was a great team win. Hason Ward. INCREDIBLE play on both sides. Tre King made some key buckets. That 3 pointer he hit came at a time where momentum was slipping. He also came down with colossal rebounds.
Overall, you have to give the game ball to Tre King. Was not fazed under pressure. We are lucky to have his maturity and toughness out there.
GREAT WIN!
I'm not really saying that Ward should've just let those guys score. My point is that with Jones's rotations, he might not have let some of those guys get to the rim in the first place. If you're not able to acknowledge that Jones is fantastic at being in the right place to help and prevent guys from even getting all the way to the rim (exactly why Otz loves him so much), then I don't know what to tell you.Ward doesn't know when, as some other guys don't at times, to just let a guy score. One of his fouls came when a player drove to the hoop and had a clear lane to the basket. It wasn't even Ward's man but he rotated over to contest the shot. That's a case where you concede the basket and live to fight another day. Sometimes you get beat and the tradeoff of contesting vs the odds of a valuable player picking up a foul just aren't worth it.
As for Jones being "better" thats not even remotely the case. Half of Wards fouls come on plays where Ward is able to position himself to make a play that BRE or even King couldnt dream of doing. Ward is a force, he just needs to recognize those extra 1 to 3 times a game where he's not going to make a play without (likely) fouling.
