*** Official IOWA STATE vs #11 Oklahoma Game(Day) Thread ***

I have to think our scheduling isn’t doing us any favors at the moment. We haven’t played a competitive basketball game in a month and a half, and we’ve had one game in basically two weeks. To me, that shows itself in a slow start where we have to get used to playing against length, size and athleticism, and in the end with us not having played in a close game in forever.

Looking at the box score, they made 10 three pointers while we only hit 3 out of 16. That was the difference in the game. I thought maybe they had a bunch of offensive rebounds but ISU actually beat them on those.

Yeah seemed like we would cut it to 3 or 4 and OU would hit a 3 or get a stop for a quick bucket or something for most of the game
I'd be curious to watch again... but it seems like we got overhyped when we got back in our, which led to us overextended on d and getting burnt.

Of course they won't shoot that bad. But 30 percent won't cut it a lot of nights. Conf play a little different.

Other issue is how many wide open ones we give up.
The last part is spot on, we have great help defense but our communication on the back end is bad which leads to the open looks. Milan and Curtis are unbelievably bad with how lost they get defensively sometimes

This style of defense that requires absolute PERFECT / LIGHTNING FAST rotations in order to not give up a wide open 3 to a good shooter is - simply excruciating to watch. TJ man, I don’t get it. Every single team thus far with a pulse offensively is getting great looks from 3, and killing us. This gives the opponent SO much confidence, and even if their team % isn’t crazy good, you’re risking at least 1 guy going off and out-shooting his average.

I love BRE, but he is a soft big. That’s just facts.

You have a deep hatred for me, and anything I post, which is fine. Life’s too short for me to waste my time hating on you. Have a nice night!
BRE is all and everything. But soft he is not. Except his hugs. I bet he can give you a big soft hug if you asked for one.

It really was. OU got so many great looks from 3. Really tough to stomach. Wide open, in rhythm…

Why don't you send this to TJ since it's a direct ask?

Good thing is we won't have to wait much longer, In about 2 weeks we going to have a good idea what we got here. I honestly still don't know, but I didn't see a lot I liked tonight against the first really good team we have seen in a long time. Hilton cures a lot of issues historically though.

I don’t know if it’s Omaha being a non factor or what but this team and season has been extremely meh to me

I'm kinda here.

Encouraging that they had a chance with the guards really not having good nights but they had to scratch and claw just to get buckets it seemed.
