Given Brock’s salary for his first two years in the NFL vs what Arch Manning reportedly banked in NIL oil $$ @ Texas for sitting on the bench all year, maybe these guys are not so stupid after all!!

I am a fool. I admit it. Why? For believing your personal morality, how you understand the world in which we live, matters.

Morality. If your own self-aggrandizement is the key, then others don't matter so much when compared with our fellow human beings. Your own connection to the history of humankind and our evolution, intellectually and morally, doesn't much matter.

(Maybe I'm thinking of men like Jimmy Stewart, who had it made and could have stayed in that den of inequity, Hollywood. Yet, he joined the Army 8th Air Force and flew as a pilot into one of the most dangerous areas of WWII - daytime bombing of Germany.)

Ok, others here might believe personal, individual values that don't include our fellow citizens isn't important. Different views. No doubt.

Without, though, such cooperation and values, would we have won World War II? Could we have reached the Moon? Could we. . . . sigh

(Damn, I've been drinking Budweisers tonight.)

Socrates quote I was reminded of this week, "it is better to Suffer Injustice than Commit It".

Cantreras barely played before he came to ISU. That worked out pretty well. Hopefully this does too.
Just looked it up,Contrerez in 2019 was 15-18 on field goals and 44-46 on pats at a junior college and then was 2-4 total the next 3? year at Nebraska.

So he had some experience kicking after high school. Not a lot and not recently before him being at ISU but it was still more than the new commit has.

I will say I wasn't that down on Gilbert, and kinda hope he can win the job somehow. I thought he had good kicks but was having close misses not shanking them.

Uh, imho, I'll go with the evaluation of our Special Teams coach. The experience of one human being, it seems to me, is not directly relatable to another human being. Each requires an evaluation. We'll see what happens.

6-1, 210 lbs., two years eligibility. Earlier, I posted some video of his kicking. Of course, it's highlights. Nevertheless, he booted it. We'll see. . . .
I hope he has one nice leg! That's all we need.

Let’s see him kicking from both hash marks vs straight center.

I think so. But, I'm always willing to learn. Please explain your point of view. Seriously.
Socrates is clearly saying that it is better to have a good FG kicker than to not have one. Seemed pretty plain to me.

Uh, ok. Gilbert is still in the room, and him becoming a reliable kicker after the struggles his freshman year is still possible and would be a nice story. He was competing against Contrerez last fall and clearly the ST coordinator still rates him some otherwise he would have transferred.

That's OK, it happens. If drink opens up the thought process some, so be it.

Your candor is OK by me. Socrates made you do it. I wonder what he was drinking or smoking with some of the philosophy he came up with.

And no, I don't want to study that stuff any more. At least not right now.

I see Charles Wright (former QB commit) is transferring from Texas. He might have been 5th on the depth chart this year at Texas.
Wasn’t he from Austin? I figured he’d just be happy being a backup on the home town team and getting a full ride to UT. He wasn’t the caliber of recruit that would beat out Ewers or Manning or Malachi Nelson.

Maybe Sark ran him off
