Asking again: Has the rot started to set in?

Has the rot started to creep in?

No, but apparently we need NFL players to bail out this staff so we don’t have things like to zero rush yards against a bad Memphis defense and one of the worst OL in the country

The good teams generally have future NFL players on their rosters.

Georgia and Alabama each had 10 players drafted to the NFL last year. Georgia had 15 players the year before drafted.

Think of that. In a two year span Georgia had 25 players drafted. That is more than a complete football team. Apparently Kirby Smart needs NFL players to bail him out. Nick Saban too.

Two teams had questionable offensive series for their last possessions last night: Alabama & Texas
Think their coaches are known to be pretty good play callers & their players are rated highly across the board. I guess it's best to say those skills are just extremely damn difficult to master & Campbell & staff are still working on it.

Play calling is a skill, one ISU is still learning & working on, & as repeatedly said, we've had the best talent in this history of our program. This team should have some more, but jury is out on whether it will match the Lazard/Montgomery & Hall/Purdy teams. To me I believe we have some at our skill positions & just maybe on the DL (DO, then maybe TO). Past that, may be too young & too early to predict for other areas, but need massive improvement on the OL & rest of our D to have others there. It will be another Tampa-type progression where in their Junior season everything coalesces.

I guess we should had lost that Kansas State game to go to a lower bowl against a more inferior opponent. Maybe then they would had won the bowl game and people would instead be happy with how the season finished.

Can we close this thread or does the dead horse need a few more kicks?
I would be willing to bet LAClone and that Memphis doosh who started a thread are the same guy. Don’t you want to hear more from him?

JFC. You rotters need to move on from this 0 rush yards thing. The last time he touched the field, Sama rushed for 275 yards. Any DC worth a ****, especially an interim one trying to get a full time gig is going to key in on him and game plan to stop it. Rewatch the game. Every time Sama was in, Memphis had 7-8 guys in the box. Hard to block 8 guys with 5. Now of course the OL was far from perfect and the defense was bad. But, Higgins had 215 receiving yards and Becht threw for 450. Had the defense not spotted Memphis 19 points before the offense found their pulse, it would have been a different story

Ah man. Now I just feel sad. Harder now. I love dogs. Cats though? I’ll ******* Sebastian janikowski their ass
I once saw my Vietnam veteran grandpa punt a farm cat, without saying a single word, that wouldn’t stop messing with his boot 30 yards and landed on top of one of his pole barns. It lived but to this day I have no idea how it got down. I was about 6 at the time and it was the coolest/scariest thing I had ever seen at that point in my life.

We only got as far as we did that season because we had NFL starter (and MVP candidate!) caliber players as skilled positions. Those players are long gone, and we probably won’t see talent like theirs again for a while.

And I’ll see your win against Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl and raise you a loss to G5 Memphis in the Liberty Bowl.
So what you're saying is we need a coach that can win a championship with bad players? That actually seems really smart, where do we get one of those?

I think this thread is very illuminating, and touches on an issue that this fanbase has been willfully blind to for a while.
Yeah, I guess you’re right. The team full of underclassmen went 6-3 in conference play this season. It’s clearly time to tear the whole thing down and start over.

A coach that doesn’t cost us games with terrible in-game coaching. One that can make the right play calls. One that can manage a clock. One that can push a hurry-up offense.

What is so hard about this concept, particularly when no one seems to even be trying to defend Campbell on these issues anymore?

Some of you people (joefrog) need mental evaluations when it comes to handling losses by ISU.
As far as ISU not winning the Big 12...why not? Do you forget we were 8-1 just 3 years ago? And that was with Oklahoma and Texas in the league. Lets give our new Off. line coach more than 1 year to improve something. Can CMC improve in a number of areas? Sure. But some of you think that while he expects his players to be the best versions of themselves...he doesn't expect that from his coaches and himself?? That's asinine thinking. You bemoan Iowa State being a place thats impossible to sustain success...but then don't acknowledge Coach Campbell taking the Cyclones to 6 bowls in 8 years??? Give the guy some credit here for improving his teams as the season wears on almost every year. We had an extremely young team this year that got immeasurably valuable experience this year which should pay benefits not only next year but in the next few years.
With the new look Big 12 next year, who knows what to expect. Most of the programs seem to be on an even level playing field...and anyone of them could jump over the others with good play. I'm excited to see what they can do next year and everyone should support them and believe great things could happen next year.
6 bowls in 8 years is good but bowls aren’t as hard to get to these days. I’m old enough to remember Earl Bruce leading ISU to an 8-3 season in 1976 and didn’t even earn a bowl bid. I think the AP had them final rankings 19 maybe. His last 3 years he finished regular season with an 8-3 records. I am sorry but that’s the standard I would like ISU football to live by. It isn’t like I am wanting undefeated seasons and NC. I’m a realist and have been around long enough to have seen 1 win seasons. I appreciate what Coach has done for us and in no way want him to be gone. I know he realizes that change needed to happen and did so. I’m hoping Clanton given time will accomplish great things for our offensive line.

Do you ever get tired of saying the same thing over and over again? You should call Pollard and ask to be on staff. **** you are a broken record.
