Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

This obsession with Hawk attendance seems to carry over from the MBB program dissing. Iowa has had good attendance for WBB before Clark, typically Top 10. It's not going to fall off the end of the world after Clark leaves nor is their program going to suddenly collapse. They have had the Big Ten POY five of the last six years (three different players). They are a good program. Admitting they've been good, had good teams and had good attendance isn't a diss on Iowa State.

Do you think a major national news organization like The Washington Post would run an article on a topic/subject that only matters to people in the state of Iowa? Serious question.

She's nationally recognized by the sports world for sure.

I don't see these types of organizations having something about her all the time though.

And like the Iowa media, it would be fair if they covered her behavior; she comes off as very toxic on the court.

That part is not 'good for the state' and the U of I doesn't speak for everyone. It's not the Clarkism, it's the Haydenism.

Yes, because they are trying to drive readership. CC is a great player, but just like every other college star, the next one will come along and then we will here about them. If Juju Watkins was playing on the east coast, we'd be hearing a whole lot more about her this year. As you can see the The Washington Post has done plenty of articles on the "star" players of women's college basketball.

If CC is a national, transcendent player as some claim, you mean all of the upcoming, younger players are going to act like that on the court too? If so, I may quit watching basketball and for sure will quit officiating it. She has played in over 220 games in high school and college. Can you show just ONE game out of those, where she did not whine, complain, criticize or question either official's calls, opponent players or even her own team? Not every play like she seems to now, but not at all, not even once during the game? And that is what you want future players to role model and emulate?

I have officiated over 2000 games in my career and I may have had some players to that level, but they don't stand out in my memories. I just know, if I saw those actions on the court these days, I would be done (and so would they for that game).

If she stays and plays a fifth year at Iowa next year, she'll probably get close to it. I assume most of the players on that list though were four-year players.

5.5 turnovers per game for four years it tough to catch!
