Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

This is generating a lot of traffic on Twitter...

Both are great athletes..... and both have temper issues. It's really a shame because they have the opportunity to be role models for younger female players. But if I had a daughter, I wouldn't want her to behave in the same manner as both Reese and CC. The same can be said on the men's side as well.

CW is 1000% more in the "you don't like her because you're jealous or because she's a woman" camp than Hassel has been. Honestly, Hassel is the best part of that pod and it isn't close.

Honestly Carver has gotten carried away with some of the local media hate.

2GNC is a great listen, I just take issue with their recent take here

I know. That was the argument CW made. We only dislike her because she’s a woman acting like that on the court
That's a dumb take by him. I despise whiners and poor sports regardless of gender. It has nothing to do with her talking smack or leaving shoes or blowing kisses. It has to do with her making faces and ******** about every...single...call, and when she misses a shot, it's clearly because she was fouled. She's good...but she's a really REALLY poor sport.

It’s so funny to me how media in Iowa doesn’t understand Clark is yesterday’s news. Hardly one outside of the state cares any more about women’s basketball because of Clark. Iowa sports media is a massive bubble/echo chamber.

Can’t wait until she goes to the WNBA and fades into oblivion like every WNBA player before her.

Interesting take. State Farm just launched their TV commercials featuring her. Gatorade just signed her. Sue Bird and Jason Sudeikis were just at Carver to see and meet her. Coach K just had her on his podcast talking about how he'd have loved to coach her. She was just on the Eli and Peyton MNF broadcast. I get why some can't stand her, but the "yesterday's news" thing is a bold new take. How do you figure?

There’s a larger conversation about how any time there’s a person or event with an Iowa connection the local media there hammers it to a pulp.

Unless they happen to graduate or attend Iowa State. Purdy gets a little play but not what he deserves. Tyrese basically gets no coverage but we get a 45 second clip of Garza scoring 30 points in the gleague, I could go further down the list but no need to prove it further.

And there, in a nice little nutshell, is all that needs to be said to justify why Iowa State fans ******* HATE Iowa.

We should note that if Purdy wins the MVP, it will be a massive national story that will pay dividends to ISU. Same if Tyrese continues his trajectory. Whatever a rinky-dink Des Moines TV station does or doesn't cover won't move the needle at that point.

Casual basketball fans outside of Iowa are mostly unaware she is still in college, unlike last year when she was the top highlight on sportscasts across the country.

The media does like to pick who they are going to carry the water for. In the state of Iowa, it's pretty obvious who is going to get the pub.

She seems to still be getting a lot of media attention outside of local/Iowa outlets.

Don't know about that. Look at all the press they give Lucca Garza because he is still clinging to any type of NBA career. He's not even a native Iowan. Chan 13 will try to convince you that the WNBA is the biggest thing since women's college basketball. Or sliced bread.
