Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Being an elder I can assure you that John Johnson and Downtown Fred Brown's Hawk team of 1969-70 would have crushed any of the Garza teams and both Johnson and Brown were 10X the NBA player that Garza is or ever will be. WasI in a full Dana House den watching the NCAA game they lost 104-103. Wonder how many more it would have been if there had been a three point shot? Pre-rivalry (we didn't even play each other) and that was probably the most entertaining Hawk season ever. Sort of the ABA era high octane style.
I was in Junior High and followed/cheered for that team. Weren't they undefeated in Big 10 play that year? Yes, I remember them losing in that game to Jacksonville. I think Jacksonville had 3 7-footers. Iowa's center was 6'8".

Maybe they played there so CC could say she won at WFA. I don’t think she ever won a state title, did she ever even make state in HS?
Never won a state title but did reach the semifinals her junior year where they lost to SE Polk and former Cyclone Maggie (Espenmiller-)McGraw.

Senior year they lost in the regional championship to Sioux City East led by current Cyclone Nyamer Diew.

In both losses Clark took over half of Dowling's shot attempts. 12/33 (out of 62) against SE Polk and 14/31 (out of 56) against SC East.

Shout out to Dana House

It’s so hilarious that so many Hawk fans think Harding is some stud. He should be in the Valley. And they wonder why their defense is never good but they play kids like him
You can see the future, 3 years from now, when they're complaining that he can't play defense and is taking minutes from Fran's latest "phenom", a 5'3 one-legged freshman point guard, and the son of a guy who played on the same AAU team as Tyler Ullis.

Yeah, of you listen to Ross Peterson, he's been openly asking if the Iowa AD is going to let Fran go during the season. I'm not sure if he's just trying to stir the pot or if he actually thinks that, but there's no chance in hell that's going to happen, short of Fran putting his hands on a ref or player, which I guess is more likely for Fran than most other coaches, but Iowa could lose 10 straight games, starting right now, with home attendance in the single digits, and they'd still give him to the end of the year.

And a total crater-job is really the only way Fran would get shown the door after this season.

Iowa is going to win some games in the Big 10. They might even get to .500 in the conference.

Fran haters have to hope that he decides to hang it up or move on, because it's very unlikely that he's going to be forced out.
I'm good with him staying.

I generally like tattoos, but this guy managed to squeeze a whole trailer park's worth of stereotypical white trash tats onto his scrawny noodle of a forearm.

I'm not even going to touch "I always see myself as the strongest guy on the court."
Someone explaining the meaning of their tattoos is the same vibe as someone telling you about the crazy dream they had the night before. In even the best circumstance, I'm always thinking "I get that this is significant to you, but I could not give less of a **** if I tried.".

Do you want to hear about my fantasy team last week?!?

Eh, if it's a particularly unique thing I don't mind hearing the "why" behind it. But none of the ones he has need any explanation and the longer he drones on about them the worse he sounds.

"This rose on my inner thigh represents the passion I feel towards my wife. This heart on my chest is for the love I have for my kids. And this naked Yosemite Sam, on my stomach, where my belly button looks like his butthole? ...that's for Mom, God rest her soul. And this tiger hawk on my bicep? Well that goes without saying."
