49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

He can get his own place with that. You can qualify on mortgages for roughly 3 times your income. So something in the $2.5 million range give or take. He also does a few local commercials from car dealerships and a few other things. So real salary is probably more like $2 - $3 million endorsements included (more coming soon because he is so good). So really he could probably buy a $3 - $5 million property endorsements included in his salary qualification. You can get something in the Bay for that. Not the biggest mansion. But not a tiny house either. He can and will probably buy something soon.

You mean Jenna will. :)

I don't know what percentage of real estate decisions are made by primarily by females, but in my life it's been 100%.

They stole the rookie of the year award from Brock and they’ll probably also steal the MVP from him. Because so far he definitely deserves it. There is no qb in the same stratosphere.

Statistically Brock owns Lamar in every category except rushing. Lamar only has 17 passing TD’s this year to Brock’s 29.

If Brock obtains a massive contract one day could see him taking a deferral on the income until he's away from the hell hole of CA taxes.
Can't really do that with NFL contracts. And you'd still get taxed on the deferred amount to some extent. Another thing to note is the game check for any particular game gets taxed on the location on the venue. So while 9+ games a year are in CA, the rest are subject to the taxes of the state they play that game in.

Nice

There's a reason the Patriots had such a great run with Brady

I know Brock is underpaid right now, but that will be made up on the next rewrite. What I would really like to see is him and SF management get on the same page where he gets solid compensation but the team still has enough money to keep a lot of weapons and a Oline to protect him Most QB and there agents get to greedy personally I think that is the biggest problem with Mahomes and the Chiefs this yr.

FYI, Mahomes isn't the highest paid QB. But I do see your point regarding cap space and retaining as much talent as you can. Hopefully SF does a good job building a solid team around Purdy!

Brock is making $870k this year. And that is just from salary not including jersey sales or any endorsement deals. I think he is doing okay. If he really wanted to move into an apartment by himself I'm sure he could afford it.

For reference (2021 numbers) the top 1% threshold was $819k.
I just don't think this is the proper way to evaluate his compensation (or anyone's for that matter). He is severely under-market for his contributions and performance.

Yes, it is one of the most expensive metros in the country but using a cost of living calculator to compare it to Des Moines Purdy's $870k base would be about $440k in Des Moines. If you can't live on $400k in Des Moines as a single adult with no dependents you are doing it wrong.

This should end the discussion that is derailing this thread so I won't comment on it again.
Last year as a 3rd string rookie QB who could be cut at anytime you can bet he was saving every dime he made for his future after football. Maybe not as much anymore but stick with what works!

Does he still live with a 49er roommate? House or apartment? Will Brock buy before and he and his fiancee get it done?

It appears Brock doesn't care that much about material things. Maybe I'm wrong, I know of him, I don't know him. I'm not religious, but I do admire his conviction about his beliefs.

I'll guess the Purdy's will use quite a bit of their contract money to do good things rather than lavish it on themselves. But, then, what do I really know? Not much.

What are the odds for comeback player of the year, because people are always glossing over the fact that he's done all this coming off a major elbow injury to his throwing arm.
Good point.

You won’t believe but Brock isn’t even listed on any Odds of the top 10.

The huge favorite is Damar Hamlin

Then Lamar, Tua, and Stafford.

Hamlin makes some sense as the leader.

But in the NFL's mind Brock don't even get a day off for major elbow surgery, just because he hurt it in the title game. Tough crowd.

can someone explain to me how damar hamlin can be comeback player of the year when he has only played in a couple of games.

Median cost for a 2 bedroom apartment in San Francisco is approximately $4000/month.
Well, that's $48,000 / year. When you take out taxes (Cali ~107K and Fed ~321K). Purdy could only be bringing home ~$427K. And with all the cars, and partying, and houses (that he isn't living in) and "makin' it rain". He would barely have enough left over for rent and food.

Seriously, he has enough to have his own nice apartment, but....

I'm guessing the young man is actually putting a ton of it away in a 401K and getting ready for leaner days. He got hurt in his first year, he got a shot of reality real quick. Not everyone is Tom Brady and plays into their 60s.

There's a meme going around that depicts climbing out of a valley being equal to reaching a mountain top. Of course I can't find it now.

Anyway, Hamlin's "comeback" is from literally being dead. Where as these others is from relatively insignificant injury.

Coming back from the dead to be on a football field is a lot more impressive than rehabbing from an injury.
