49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

The best thing about the Purdy/McCaffrey MVP debate is that each player has stated publicly that they believe the other player should win it. That's when you know you've got a special team with selfless stars.

Shanahan and Lynch should be buying Purdy a really really nice Christmas present because Brock saved their bacon after the Trey Lance debacle. GM's and head coaches usually don't survive mistakes of that magnitude. So it seems a bit unfair that they're spending the holidays in their multimillion dollar homes while Brock is sitting in his apartment with his roommate. But Brock will get his payday, provided he stays healthy.
Brock is making $870k this year. And that is just from salary not including jersey sales or any endorsement deals. I think he is doing okay. If he really wanted to move into an apartment by himself I'm sure he could afford it.

For reference (2021 numbers) the top 1% threshold was $819k.

I’m almost surprised Tua hasn’t gotten more run.
The problem with Tua (and Hill) are that the Dolphins have played a garbage schedule, and haven't beaten anyone good, or at least anyone playing well at the time (i.e. week 3 vs. Broncos).

Do you know anyone who lives in the Bay Area?

Friend of the family who worked in the Bay Area during Covid actually moved to Hawaii while working remotely for a tech company in SF because it wasn’t any more expensive.

Yes I do. I know it is ridiculously expensive but that doesn't mean that a single person making at least 8 times the average household income can't at least live comfortably.

If Brock was playing just average, I'd say CMC by a mile. But Brock being so accurate downfield is helping keep defenses honest and giving CMC just a tad bit more space, which he is absolutely taking advantage of. It's a circle though - they both help eachother quite a bit.

They lose games without either of them, but I think pull out a few more with Brock and no CMC over Darnold and CMC.

Never said he's not doing okay. Geeze.

Everything is relative and, relatively speaking, Brock Purdy is the most underpaid player in the history of professional football.

Yes, COL is quite high in the SF area. But the vast, vast majority of people/families are making much less than $870K in the area. If an individual can't live comfortably in SF making $870K, who isn't married yet and has no kids, then I have a hard time believing there would be over 7.5 million people living in the SF bay area

Median cost for a 2 bedroom apartment in San Francisco is approximately $4000/month.

That would have been a ok trade. :)

Case in point. If anyone remembers, Kate on LOST was from Ames Iowa. They did a throw back scene to here as a young girl stealing a NKOTB lunchbox from the Ames "General Store"

Sorry for the lousy video quality

I don't see the problem, I live in Ames, that's exactly what it's like. I went to the general store to get some hardtack just this morning.

I know Brock is underpaid right now, but that will be made up on the next rewrite. What I would really like to see is him and SF management get on the same page where he gets solid compensation but the team still has enough money to keep a lot of weapons and a Oline to protect him Most QB and there agents get to greedy personally I think that is the biggest problem with Mahomes and the Chiefs this yr.

Can't imagine anyone being happier than Brock If McCaffrey gets it. Remember when he schooled Brock on the playbook when he first got there and took him under his wing.
Maybe it's what you meant, and my reading compression is crap, but I think it was the opposite that CMC was quickly taught the playbook with help from Brock before CMC's first game. Probably a big reason why CMC was so helpful last year as they've already built that rapport.

All you have to do is look at last season when Brocks elbow exploded. They had nothing after that. CMC is a big part of the offense, but you can replace him with Eli Mitchell and still have some success.
