Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

I cribbed this from a Hawkeye board, but damn, the Big 10 is not very good this year. I realize NET ratings aren't perfect but as of today, Iowa is still the 6th best team in the conference, in spite of the lukewarm diarrhea on a hoagie roll, they served up in the last week.

NCAA NET (12/11)
1. Arizona

I was surprised that his ejection didn't come up in the post game press conference. At least, not in any of the videos I saw of it. I understand that the media might not want to be super confrontational, but that seems like something you could at least give a cursory nod to.
It wasn't mentioned in the AP recap of the game that most sites/papers use either.

If Iowa is lukewarm diarrhea on a hoagie roll, what are Minny, Indy, PSU, and Maryland? 5 gallons of calf scours poured into your coffee cup?

And Iowa has SEVEN games against those 4 cups of coffee!!

It will be interesting to see what ESPN does with promotion when they lose the majority of their B10 inventory. They tend to cover the teams on their network.

Which is why people need to get rid of the whole SEC and B1G breaking away nonsense. ESPN won't allow that to happen. They need the ACC and Big 12 to be relevant until the ACC potentially falls apart.

The problem the B1G is going to have is that the quadrant 1 opportunities are going to be minimal.

Not sure for how long. When was his first sideline temper tantrum?

No idea. But I can tell you plenty of folks like seeing Fran fail because of it.

Iowa's known more for their dysfunctuonal nepotism than what they've done on the court.

I am trying to think of the last Nat'l Champion that won on the back of a 'big guy'. I am sure there have been some recently or maybe not.

Alternately, lots of examples of stud guard tandems getting the job done.
The last team I remember that truly meets this requirement is Arkansas with the Big Nasty Corliss Williamson. They almost won two in a row! Their guards were three guys I've never heard of (Alex Dillard, Corey Beck, Clint McDaniel).

That Okafor UConn team had Ben Gordon who was their leading scorer and arguably their best player.

Guards have obviously been critical to March Madness success for quite a while, but UCONN last year had a dominant big man, backed up by another.

I also think the cycle is moving back towards the bigs, slowly, following the NBA lead with Jokic and others. The difference is the modern big has to be able to handle the ball, facilitate offense, and have outside range. I don't know that Edey has any of those skills.

If Franny leaves Iowa ******, I think he is already scoping out his next gig. Oak Hills Christian College in MN. They just lost to NDSU 108-14, but that gives Fran the perfect setup to clamp the full court press on at the end of the game to really tighten up the score. Plus the team already looks like his recruits.
