Iowa is better than VCU and Virginia Tech in Torvik, NET, and KenPom. Go find some different Cheerios to pee in Mr. Grumpypants.

The only team of consequence Iowa has beat is Seton Hall. And they aren't any good right now. So I don't think it's a stretch to argue Iowa would have lost every game had they played ISU's schedule in Orlando regardless of what Torvik, NET or KenPom say.

I'm not trying to poo-poo anything because that was a butt kicking. The guys are playing good and anytime Iowa gets their butts kicked is a good time. But don't make the mistake that they just rolled the 1987 Hawks. This Iowa team right now is hot garbage. The worst I have seen since the Todd Lickliter days.

My eyes tell me Iowa would be near the bottom of the Big XII. My eyes also tell me I don't see anyone saying we are going to win the conference or go to the final 4 after that win. It's OK to enjoy kicking the crap out of your rival. We don't need a reality check thank you very much.

Iowa sucks. Compared to the 3 teams we played in Orlando Iowa would have been the worse team. And I'm not saying those teams were good.

This was our best game performance but if we are all slapping our backs over it then we'll be very disappointed in conference. Jump in metrics reflects only that we like to beat up on the weak. Throw in a real team and we wilt.

I try not to be "that guy" but if you can't get any enjoyment from the good moments, why follow the team in the first place?

If it's supposed to be entertainment, finding something that doesn't make you miserable would be a better use of your time.

Frankly I'd be happy with 2-3 with how tough that stretch is. That would mean there's an upset and/or Q1 win to start.

I agree 3-2 is optimistic, 2-3 probably is even more likely. But I just get tired of people being negative all the time. TJ has got us to the tourney the last 2 yrs no reason to doubt him now when the team can actually shoot. Just my opinion though.

I'm not going to act like Iowa is a great team, but Iowa State's performance was still impressive. Creighton only beat Iowa by 8 and Oklahoma beat Iowa by 12. Granted, both of those leads shrunk late, but still, Iowa State's margin throughout the game was still consistently larger than either Creighton or OU had.

Good teams lose to bad teams all the time, and even more often allow bad teams to stay in games. To add the rivalry on top of it and win by 25, it's a great win against a P6 team that may not be good, but also isn't historically awful by any means.

Interesting take. I'll counter you with the bold prediction we end up .500 or better in conference. My opinion is worth every bit as much as yours.

In that case I will go with a top 2 finish and win the Big 12 tournament.

I put out a 4-1 start earlier, with at BYU the loss. Oklahoma has one good win so far, by 2 over USC. Next best, Providence? Iowa? We know OU and that's a winnable road game.

I know, beating Houston seems overly optimistic. But have they played in an environment like a packed/jacked Hilton? Their best win? Utah?

We could go 1-4 and still have hope for a good season and making the tournament. It's a really tough stretch. I'm more concerned with continued improvement.

Sports is linear to some. I whiffed on how much better ISU has looked after Feast Week but still understand that not often are two weeks or games the same.
