Texas Longhorns - Airing of the Grievances

Championship game was only held in Dallas, but everyone had to give in and let them have the basketball tournament in a half filled arena for a rotation, instead of the best situation in the entire nation, just because we were trying to show how unified we were.
I assume you just mean lately. FB championship has actually been played outside of Texas (KC and STL) 7 out of 22 years counting this year but not since 2010.

It's to bad this is ending, they were really starting to hate our guts. We win just enough, and talked enough **** to really annoy them.

Been to several UT-ISU games in Ames, one in Austin, and I can't say I've had a bad interaction with the rank and file Longhorn fan.

The fact that it's an institutional problem with them is worse than just having bad/arrogant fans IMO
Nail on the head. It's such an institutional thing that really is hard to fix. I hate their guts but I've never had a bad fan interaction and I walk around Austin all the time with cyclones gear on.

Not going to debate the negatives associated with UT but there are couple of things worth mentioning.

1) UT, NU, aggy and OU share equal blame for not agreeing to the formation of a B12 Network back in the 2005 timeframe. If any of those four vote for the network, the B12 likely sticks together for the long term to the benefit of all members.

2) Subsequent to that, the UT agreement with ESPN to create LHN saved ISU's ass from being relegated to the Big East.
I would agree. It was as much an and m and neb...ut didn't help but it wasn't solely them.

Standing out was TX celebration of the 50th year of having a black player on the team. They should have ignored it instead of embarrassing themselves.

OK - I think you're correct - for some reason I thought it went unflagged. I'm probably confusing it with something else.
I mostly remember being really mad/disappointed in the big 12, the Texas coach, and the player response in the days afterward. He should have been suspended for a minimum of 25% of the season.

It was the equivalent of a basketball player sucker punching someone during a free throw.

The SEC will quickly find out that Texas won't be satisfied to be a back-bencher behind Alabama, LSU, Georgia, O'l Miss, etc. Their old competitors Texas A&M and Oklahoma know the problems with Texas. Texas has always been about both Money and Fame. If they can't be in the national playoff picture every year they will raise a stink even we will hear about.

This is the only university that I know of where the Football program is counted on to provide financing to the operations of the University academics programs. So with the end of the Longhorn Network, their hands will be out grabbing money where they can, disrupting the operations of the SEC just as they did in the Big 12.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

PAC 12 network didn’t do much. ACC network either.

With our last scheduled football match up against the Longhorns approaching, I was chatting with a non-ISU friend about why XII and ISU folks dislike Texas so much. They asked, “well, what’ve they specifically done to make you hate them?”

A few things off top of my head:
- Backroom scheming to leave the XII
- Complaining about Horns Down & the conference making it a penalty
- numerous questionable officiating calls, namely Jeremiah George’s forward progress strip return

What else? Can be anything ISU or XII related

Your first two items are exponentially worse because they were happening at the same time. Insisting on penalties for Horns Down while having already committed to leaving the conference. It is the greatest hypocrisy (or maybe just the best smokescreen) of all time.
