Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

I've not gone out of my way to watch Caitlin Clark. I saw some "highlights" from last night's game.

Is it fair to day she's the on-court equivalent of Kim Mulkey? I saw her yelling (not encouragingly) at her team mates and whining to the refs a lot. 37 attempts at a low percentage is a disgusting look as well.

She was yelling at the refs to call fouls all night.

ISU played hard last night, but we weren't exactly playing out of our minds. We made a ton of mistakes and really struggled to finish at the rim. Not sure what Clark's comments at halftime were all about. It was actually two pretty evenly-matched teams playing a very competitive game.

Obviously I'm no fan of Iowa, but taking the rivalry blinders off and just objectively watching Iowa, they aren't a top 5 team. They have the best player on the court every night, but the supporting cast isn't there. When you have one player (regardless of her talent) score all of your points in a quarter in a really tight game, you have roster issues.

Iowa is good. I think they're more top 15-20ish instead of top 5. If the supporting cast gets better throughout the season they can be top 10.

Pretty fair analysis.

She shot 38% from 3 and 39% overall. Certainly not a great shooting night for her but not horrible either. The issue was how poorly the rest of the girls shot, not her. Did not see her once disparaging her teammates. I think sometimes people see what they want to see.

Yeah when ISU was in the game they were playing well but it wasn't like they were shooting out of their minds or anything

She disparaged the refs. Beyomd it really. At least twice was T worthy.

I've never seen a player try to tell a ref when or when not to call a foul.

Does Bluder just let her run everything?

I haven't watched her much but there wasn't anything last night that made need to tune in. It was like watching a McCaffery.

You know she should have been T'd up when the 100% pro-Clark announcers even said she should have been T'd up.

Several times in the first half, the starters were not in the game, and the bench players weren't sure what to do on offense, so she gave them looks. She looked at McCabe, Kylie, and Goodman like what in the hxxl are you doing?

She did say some positive and negative things to her team mates. As to her % they took 63 shots as a team and she took 31 of those. The player of the game for them was Martin without her points the loose by 7.

Yeah, remind me to not watch Iowa women's basketball ever again. Last night was a very competitive game, but I sure learned some things:

1. Iowa doesnt have as good of team as last year.
2. CC is good, but damn she is a twat. Constantly ********.
3. ISU team played really well, but fell short. Exciting future.

Why would CC leave the NIL gravy train to play in empty arenas for less $$? She would be crazy not to come back to college ball. Maybe I am missing something here?

She has endorsement money whether she plays in the WNBA or in college. She's already made her name and her value doesn't depend on where she plays ball. If she comes back to Iowa next year it won't be because she thinks she can make more money there.

I'll see if I can't find the highlight. She made a 3 pointer off of a screen, then on her way back down the court she was screaming at her teammates to "come on!" Not like an encouraging let's go type of yell, but like a you all suck and aren't doing your part type of scream.

I doubt that there is a professional league in the universe that will let her chuck 143 shots every game as if she is the only player on the court.

Exactly. I think she'll make about the same money whether she stays in college or goes pro early, but college offers a much better opportunity to continue being the big fish in a small pond.

I don’t usually watch either but I was kind of shocked when she yelled at a ref close up for a solid minute and the ref changed a very close out of bounds call to help her rather than give her a tech. It was like she was the officiating crew.
