**** WBB: Game Thread - Cyclones host #4 Iowa Wednesday 6:00 pm ESPN2 ****

Quality effort by ISU to keep it as close as they did, starting 3 freshman against the 4th ranked team in the country, ISU really played well. Next year they are going to be a fun team to watch.

I have only seen Clark play a couple of times, her range is amazing, and how fast she gets her shot off is upper level. But she would drive me up the wall if I was coaching her. With the way she rolls down the floor and just launches a shot.

Most interesting stat tonight was something like 60% of her 3-point attempts are 25 feet or more from the basket, she just has unbelievable range and she sure is not afraid to shoot the ball.

Dude, we are playing without a seasoned point guard so what you want and what you get in a game as a coach can be quite different. I hated to lose but I am proud of the ladies and have no interest in woulda, coulda shoulda.
Go ahead and put words in my mouth or imply I am not thinking exactly how you are. I am not even mad we lost because this team showed a ton tonight. I am not one of the ones who rags on Bill. Go ahead and search my history. And I even started my post with saying the game plan was solid tonight. I felt he didn't do the best for the ladies on offense down the stretch. How is that some flaming indictment?

It was a young team who had to handle a lot being within a chance to pull a massive upset. That coaching job is tough as hell as it is, so not raking him over the coals. Just pointing out imo (and I am not a coach nor ever will claim to be one) that I think Bill and the staff could have done better offensive wise once we got that 55-54 lead.

We really didn’t run a good offense all game. Yeah we scored but there was zero ball movement and way too much forced iso plays. Kudos to the girls for hanging in there but we absolutely folded in the 4th.
Getting so tired at the shots at Bill. No, ,I am not a Bill apologist; I'm not even sure I would like to hang out with the guy. But he leads a program that often sits in the top 10 in attendance nationally. He recruited the 13th best class in the nation this year. And last year, at the B12 tournament, he beat #6 Baylor, #2 Oklahoma and #1 Texas to win it all. Pretty decent resume.

Over a point per possession is definitely not abysmal
I just went through play by play and counted.
18 unique possessions in 1st Qtr
17 in 2nd Qtr
18 in 3rd Qtr
20 in 4th Qtr

So Iowa had 73 possessions. Some possessions had multiple FG attempts due to offensive rebounds, some have turnovers, some have fouls/FTs. No coincidence that the game slipped away when Iowa got more possessions. Iowa had 63 FG attempts, 9 offensive rebounds and 9 turnovers so you could say they had 81 possessions.

Not a great game by her by any means. Their team doesn't thrive in the half court, they like a fast open court better. We did a great job of keeping it half court. With that said she maybe should have had 8 or 9 assists if her teammates had hit some of their shots after she set them up. Not Clark/Martin Hawkeyes were 4 for 20 from the field. Still, more of a "C" game for her. Martin was the game difference for them.

Yep, Bill even said as much in the postgame. Martin was the one who made the difference.
